Overview
The National level Medical Entrance Tests are open to students without reference to their place of domicile. Medical Entrance Tests conducted
at the State level are meant for students of State domicile. The basic requirement is that students should be at least 17 years old on or before 31st December of the year of admission; the upper age limit where
prescribed is 25 years. Candidates must have completed Std. XII or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I . National - level Medical Entrance Examinations
(i) All India PM / PD Entrance Test (AIPMT)* The AIPMT is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education ∗ Based on the Information Bulletin of All India PM/PD Entrance Exam 2015

(CBSE) every year, for admission to the 15% merit based seats of the total in-take capacity of specified Medical /Dental Colleges located in all States except Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates belonging to these two states are not eligible for admission to the AIPMT. If they claim eligibility they must produce an affidavit in the form prescribed that (a) they are not eligible to seek admission to Medical Colleges of Andhra Pradesh /Jammu & Kashmir and (b) they are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh or Jammu & Kashmir. Eligibility and Qualifications for AIPMT • Only Indian Nationals are eligible.
• The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31st of the year of admission.
• The upper age limit is 25 years on 31st December of the year of the Entrance Examination (30 years for candidates of SC/ST/OBC)
• The minimum qualification is a pass in the 12th standard of the 10 +2 course (Higher/Senior Secondary Exams or 2nd year if Pre/ Intermediate pre-degree Exam) in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry Biology and English individually; a minimum of 50% marks taken together in PCB (40% in the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) is required. Those who are taking the Std XII examination whose result is awaited may also appear for the Entrance Examination subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.
Pattern of AIPMT The Entrance Examination consists of : • A Single Examination in May consisting of one paper containing 180
objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (
Botany & Zoology) of three hours' duration. Negative marks will be
awarded for incorrect answer.
• Language of the Question Papers : • All candidates can opt for
Question Paper either in English or in Hindi.
Candidates seeking admission under 15% All India quota seats and in ∗ Based on the Information Bulletin of All India PM/PD Entrance Exam 2015 2
AFMC should appear in the examination either in English or Hindi only. Candidates who have passed/appearing for their class XII or
equivalent qualifying examination from the State Boards of Andhra
Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West
Bengal and seeking admission in the institutions located in the State
concerned under State Quota seats only can opt for Question Paper
in their respective Regional Language i.e. Telugu, Assamese,
Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Bengali. Candidates seeking admission under State Quota seats of more than
one State should appear in the examination either in English or
Hindi only. Candidates opting for English would be provided Test Booklet in
English only and the candidates opting for other languages would
be provided Test Booklet in English with translation in the language
as per choice of the candidate. Candidates opting for Question Paper in Regional languages should
choose Centre/Cities within the geographical limit of the State concerned.
Option of Question Paper should be exercised while filling in the
application form and the option once exercised by candidates
cannot be changed later. In case of any ambiguity in translation of any of the questions, its
English version shall be treated as final.
(a) In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS courses for a
particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain
minimum of marks at 50th percentile in ‘AIPMT, held for the said
academic year. However, in respect of candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes , the
minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. In respect of General
candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum
marks shall be at 45th percentile. The percentile shall 3
be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in All-India common merit list in AIPMT for admission to MBBS/BDS courses’. Provided when sufficient number of candidates in the respective categories fail
to secure minimum marks as prescribed in National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test held for any academic year for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses, the Central Government in consultation with Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India may at its discretion lower the minimum
marks required for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses for candidates
belonging to respective categories and marks so lowered by the Central
Government shall be applicable for the said academic year only.
(b) No candidate who has failed to obtain the minimum eligibility
marks as above shall be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.
(ii) Other Medical Entrance Examinations There are several Medical Colleges where seats are open to Indian
Nationals through Entrance Examinations without any domicile
conditions, some of which are: • All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS)
• Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and
Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry These Medical Entrance Examinations are generally conducted between April and August; some examination authorities stipulate higher
minimum/ aggregate marks in English and for Physics, Chemistry &
Biology taken together II. State Medical Tests A candidate satisfying the domicile conditions of a state can appear for
one of the State Medical Tests. In most cases the selection is made
through an Entrance Examination conducted for this purpose The Examinations are generally held between April and August. The actual
dates of the examinations, the syllabus prescribed, if any, and other 4
details are announced in the information bulletins for the examinations
issued by the respective Testing Authorities. It is the student’s responsibility to watch for publication of these
bulletins and ensure compliance with all requirements of the
respective Entrance Examinations.

The problems will initiate students into problem solving with exercises

Full-Syllabus Medical Entrance Simulator Test Series (home-
based) Thirteen Sets of Full-Syllabus Test Papers, simulating the pattern of CBSE’s
