A relationship between attachment styles and defense styles in early adults and adults
ïŒå€§éªå€§åŠå€§åŠé¢äººéç§åŠç 究ç§å士åæ課çšïŒãè®ãè±ãã®ãã¿
Abstract
The present study was conducted to demonstrate the relationship between attachment styles and
defense styles in early adults and adults. Participants were 452 (early adult group were 252 & adult
group are 202). In both groups, âAnxiety about relationshipâ and âAvoidance of intimacyâ of the two
attachment dimensions positively correlated to the immature defense stale. Moreover, âAnxiety about
relationshipâ was positively correlated to the neurotic defense style, but negatively correlated to the
mature defense style. âAnxiety about relationshipâ positively correlated to the immature defense style,
too. The obvious differences between secure attachment style and insecure attachment styles were
demonstrated regarding to the defense styles. For adult group, âAvoidance of intimacyâ was positively
correlated to the mature style. âAnxiety about relationshipâ and the immature style for the adult
group were lower than those of the early adult group, and the mature defense style for the adult group
was higher than that of the early adult group. These results were discussed in the view point of a life
development of attachment and defense styles.
