Snacks: 5:30 p.m. ~ Workshops: 6:00 - 8:00 pm
This year’s clinic will be a different format and we need your help! We will be serving Hotdogs and snacks, 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. To make sure we have enough food prepared, we are asking churches to give an estimate of how many will be attending.
We are also putting together information about the different ways churches conduct their VBS. We would appreciate it if your church would send a copy of the rotation schedule that you used for last year’s VBS.
Please send this information to Shannon Pruitt, 405-273-2105 or e-mail [email protected], no later than Wednesday, March 6th.
Lifeway orders may be placed at this event and 1 week before or after.

Are Interim Pastorates Important?
We have several retired pastors and OBU professors who are available to serve as Interim or Transitional Pastors of our pastorless churches. These men have been invaluable to some of our churches. They help the churches adjust to the pastor’s leaving. They provide on-going continuity in the preaching/pulpit ministry. They provide much needed prayer support and godly counsel to Staff, Deacons, search committees and other leaders. The length of the interim period will vary depending on how long the previous pastor served the church and the conditions under which he resigned. In most cases an Interim or Transitional Pastor is preferable to merely using week-by-week supply preachers. Should your church become pastorless the first and one of the best calls you can make is to your Associational office. That’s one of the reasons for a Director of Missions and an Associational staff—to serve churches, particularly when they are without a Pastor. I have recently completed my sixteenth interim pastorate in PLBA. These have added a dimension to our service to the churches that could never have been rendered by simply going in and out on an occasional Sunday (although I do much of that, supplying for Pastors, etc.). Many others have given this same service to our churches as they transition between permanent pastors. The association, at least in Baptist life, is still the entity closest to the local church. Those who voluntarily work with myself and our staff render a great service to all our churches. Supporting and encouraging Interim and Transitional Pastors is one big way to do that. Please pray for the churches, the Pastors and Interim Pastors as we all labor together in God’s vineyard. Encouragingly Yours, Russell R. Cook
“Part I - A Portrait of Man in Sin” Ephesians 2:1-3
In these first ten verses of Ephesians Chapter 2, Paul paints a verbal picture of a man (1) in SIN (vv. 1-3), (2) in SALVATION (vv. 4-9) and (3) in SERVICE (v. 10). Here, in verses 1-3 is a portrait of a man in sin.
I. The man in sin is SPIRITUALLY DEAD (vv 1, 5). A. Spiritual death is the CONSEQUENCE OF MAN’S SIN. (cf. Romans 5:12) B. Spiritual death is the COMMON CONDITION OF ALL MEN IN SIN. (cf. Romans 3:23)
II.The man in sin is SPIRITUALLY ENSLAVED (v. 2). A. He is enslaved to the WORLD’S SYSTEM. (v.2a) B. He is enslaved to the enemy SATAN. (v. 2b)
III. The man in sin is SPIRITUALLY CONDEMNED (v.3). A. He is comdemned to God’s wrath because of his DISOBEDIENT LIFESTYLE. (v. 3a) B. He is condemned to God’s wrath because of his DETERMINENT NATURE. (v. 3b)
Every person who has ever lived on the earth, every person who now lives on the earth, and every person who ever shall live on the earth is seen in the picture. Without regard for God and the gospel of Christ, we remain a man in sin… without any hope of eternal life. — rrc

BLANKET THE STATE
What makes this ministry unique? Because EVERY blanket which goes out in the name of this ministry carries with it a specially-designed label with the ministry’s logo AND a Scripture verse affirming Life…AND…EVERY blanket is accompanied by a specially-designed Gift Card which also carries the logo, an explanation of the ministry, the plan of salvation, and a place to write in contact information. THESE ARE TRULY BLANKETS WITH A MESSAGE! Please join us in this effort. If you already have a blanket or quilt ministry, please contact me about how to get involved in this way to send a gospel message with your loving handiwork!
A NUGGET FROM MY SPIRITUAL JOURNEY… “Nana, you’re getting old!” What an unexpected comment I heard from very young granddaughters! Totally random, totally just plopped into the atmosphere of their living room where we were cuddling/visiting. Twice. As conversation bounced around that remark, it was soon evident they were attempting, at ages 4 & 5, to grasp the concept of generations. When their pregnant mommy, our daughter, Joy, said that one day she would be the grandma to their children, it seemed to be an inconceivable and ludicrous thought to the mind of the 5-year-old. “No! I just want you to be my mommy! You can’t be a grandma!” We laughed, realizing the concept was just too big for now, but saw that there does come a time for understanding generational roles in life. Whatever our role(s), however, we are to exercise them as women “worthy of respect,” according to Scripture. Daughters, wives, mommies, aunts, Nana’s, Great-Nana’s…all are to be women worthy of respect…tiny or tall, young or older, or very old. There is not a “time-out” chair for being respected by all, within and outside our families. I, like you, may wish for some “do-overs,” but God does forgive repentant hearts and lets us live respectfully beyond those regrets. Let us live as women whose children—and grandchildren—will rise up and call us blessed! - Marsha Cook
