President’s Message
Our May board meeting was very well attended. Thanks to all who
made the trip and especially to Lincoln County Piecemakers. The
Show and Tell they provided was wonderful.
The new TVQA brochures are here and will be distributed to the
guilds at the August board meeting. Each guild should receive forty
brochures. If your guild has an upcoming event that will take place
before August, please let me know and I will mail your brochures to
you.
We received updates on Assembly Day from Iris Guild and a re-
minder that we need TVQA members to volunteer to work with Judy
Beckwith at the Tennessee State Fair. Please get in touch with Judy
Beckwith ([email protected]) if you are interested in work-
ing. Volunteers are needed for the first week in September.
The location for the 2015 Spring Seminar is still undecided. The
Double Tree Hotel in Murfreesboro will not confirm with us until
late June 2014 and could turn us down. Several members have men-
tioned that this event should stay in a central location for the group.
This may not be possible.
Gayle Grier, TVQA Secretary, stepped up to fill the position of
Newsletter Editor along with her secretary duties. We all owe her
our thanks.

BOARD MINUTES
TENNESSEE VALLEY QUILTERS ASSOCIATION
May 9, 2014
*******************************************************************************************
The meeting was held at the LaVergne First United Methodist Church, Waldron Road, LaVergne, TN, and
called to order at 10:00 AM by President Arieanna Glennon. Arieanna asked for a roll call.
Secretary Gayle Grier made a motion that the minutes be approved as printed in the May 2014 newsletter.
The motion was seconded and approved.
Treasurer Jean Odom reported a balance of $17,569.00 in the bank due to recent receipt of annual dues.
TVQA is in very good financial shape at this time. Discussion ensued regarding actually emailing the
newsletter instead of accessing it through the website. Ginger sends the newsletter to the guild presidents
and to the person submitting the guild article for them to forward to their members and requests that if they
are no longer responsible they let her know. It was suggested that an email with a “hot link” could be sent to
all members. Arieanna recommended that Kay Papenfuss, our webmaster, be consulted. Jo Reid mentioned
that email addresses change quite often and it could be a nightmare to clear out those messages that bounce
back and to update the changes. Brenda Willis noted that we need to maintain 200 members with the
mailed newsletter in order to keep the mailing cost manageable. The newsletter is sent out four to five
weeks before the next Board meeting. Arieanna will remind the guild presidents that they should be for-
warding the newsletter information on to their members. Any guild presidents without email need to ap-
point an email contact for the guild.
Officer/Committee Reports:
Vice President Sena Frank said that she produced the latest newsletter and after doing that once, her hat is
off to Ginger who does a fabulous job! Sena added five new books to the TVQA library this month:
Our Best Seasonal Quilts, from Fons & Porter magazine
Divide & Conquer – Quilt It Your Way, by Nancy Smith & Lynda Milligan
Save the Scraps, Great Quilts from Small Bits by Gayle Bong
Triple Irish Chain Quilts, by Wendy Gilbert, Quilt in a Day
Winding Ways Quilts, A practically pinless approach, by Nancy Elliott MacDonald
Sena said she did not bring the books to this meeting because it was raining and she did not want the books
to be damaged. The new books will be available after the meeting.
Membership Chairperson Brenda Willis gave us statistics on membership: currently we have 966 mem-
bers, 105 of those are new members. Starting in November, Brenda will send a reminder to each guild pres-
ident requesting information for the Directory. The information is due the first of March, 2015. This year
Brenda tried repeatedly to get in touch with a particular guild and no one would respond, so that guild is not
in the Directory. There are a few extra Directories in case they are needed for new members.
Newsletter Editor Ginger Fondren said that back in March when all the information started coming in for
the Newsletter, her daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor and she did not survive due to complications
after the surgery. Understandably, Ginger could not do the newsletter and expressed her thanks to Sena for
5
BOARD MINUTES 5/9/14 (continued)
stepping in and getting the newsletter out. Consequently, all the guild news submissions did not get passed
onto Sena to be included. Ginger asked that the Board forgive the four-submission requirement for guilds
for the May newsletter only. Arieanna said the Board has already discussed and agreed that this is the only
way to handle it due to the circumstances.
Ginger then said she can no longer do the newsletter and asked that someone else take over. Arieanna said
that Sena did a wonderful job but she will be the next President and she cannot do both jobs. Arieanna
asked for volunteers. Gayle said she will do the newsletter for a short time until someone else can take
over.
State Fair chairperson Judy Beckwith said the State Fair is coming up and 966 people have been invited
to submit their quilt. They are hoping to have 150 quilts entered. Please submit your quilts. Judy asked for
help at the Fair. There are three judges for the Fair. She also needs people to help on Judging Day, Tues-
day, September 2nd, to flip the quilts for the judge, to write down their comments, to apply ribbons, etc. We
need about six people to help each judge. The Music City Guild used to volunteer but that isn’t happening
anymore as they have a national teacher that day. If you would like to volunteer, just send an email to Judy.
They would like for people to stay to hang the quilts if possible. Judy’s email address is: judybeck-
Also, we still need hangers. It takes four or five hangers to hang the big quilts, so we need (four times 150
quilts) about 600 hangers. Please bring hangers to the next Board meeting and ask for extra hangers in the
stores where you shop.
Program Services Chairperson, Jo Reid, said she did not have anything to report on Program Services
and asked that if anyone wants to be added to the list of teachers, they contact her and complete a short
form.
Home of the Brave (HOTB) chair for Alabama, Jo Reid, said Alabama has been very lucky and there
have been no casualties for a while. She is still receiving quilts from Alabama guilds.
Fall Retreat chairperson, Jo Reid, said she already has a stack of registrations. So if you want to go to
Fall Retreat, get your paperwork in. The St. Joseph building will be open for the Fall and Winter Retreats
but will not be open after that.
TVQA Website Chairperson, Kay Papenfuss, was not present but asked that the following report be read
into the record:
“The work on the website has been ongoing. The Member Section, Member Directory now has a
working general password “quilt2013”. The member names are listed in a PDF file as they were put
in the directory and will be updated once a month when Brenda Willis, Membership Chair, forwards
new information to the webmaster. FYI, the list is sorted in descending alphabetical order. Howev-
er, there is an error and member name “True” is at the top. The interactive server side database is
still under construction. Kay will soon add membership information sorted by guilds and hopes to
find the error to put member “True” in the correct sequence. Updates have been made to other sec-
tions and each page has an update notation on the bottom of the page to indicate how current the in-
formation is.”
6
BOARD MINUTES 5/9/14 (continued)
Brenda commented that it is not a PDF error but an Excel issue that she could not fix either.
Sena Frank, HOTB for Tennessee, said that over a year ago she sent a letter to a lady asking if she would
like to receive a quilt and just received a card back saying “Yes” she would like to have a quilt. She thought it
was pretty cool that the reply was sent a year later. Sena also let us know that Dickson recently celebrated Old
Timers Day which included a quilt show and she was asked to set up a booth on Home of the Brave with help
from Bernice Stokes and Susan Mock. She found it a great opportunity to tell people about Home of the Brave
and what HOTB does. If you want the booth set up for your local quilt show, it is available.
Winter Retreat chairperson, Barbara Seals, reported that the registration form will be in the August and
November editions of the newsletter and will be accepted beginning on October 1st. The Winter Retreat will
be the last time anyone can stay at the St. Joseph building. The date for Winter Retreat is January 21 – 25,
2015.
Old Business:
Assembly Day 2014 – Iris Guild - As of Tuesday, there are only 200 people registered. The cut off is June 1st
so please get your registration in. There is no charge to attend unless you want to buy your lunch. If you want
to go out for lunch there are restaurants nearby.
Arieanna asked if anyone discussed with their guild the idea of TVQA contributing to lodging for Assembly
Day speakers who could stay over a few days and teach classes that would be open to all TVQA members on a
first come/first serve basis. A couple of people responded that their guilds voted “Yes”. This would apply to
teachers for 2015 or 2016 and beyond.
Ginger mentioned that if any guilds want to bring their banner to Assembly Day that they will find a way to
hang them for the day or you can hold them up when we mention the guilds. Also, there will be a table for
brochures or notices from guilds to advertise what is going on in their guilds.
Assembly Day 2015 – Quilting Bees Guild - The teacher for 2015 is Judy Hansen. She has over 200 videos
on YouTube that everyone can check out. The Host Guild is looking for a venue for the extra classes. The
speaker said she would like to teach additional classes but the date for Assembly Day and her calendar are
conflicting. Could the date be changed or does it have to be the third Saturday in July. Arieanna said it can be
any date that the host guild wants to have the event. Jean commented that traditionally, the people attending a
workshop pay a fee for the workshop plus a prorated amount of the lodging and expenses for the teacher.
TVQA members who for some reason cannot attend the workshop may not want funds spent to underwrite the
workshop. Since TVQA is covering the transportation to bring in the speaker for Assembly Day, expenses for
the additional workshops will be minimal.
Judge Training – Sena read a statement from Kay Papenfuss:
“Regarding judge coordinators, she spoke with Bernice Stokes, and she agreed to be a co-coordinator
with Kay for TVQA Judges, similar to the coordinator for teachers. She and Bernice talked about hav-
ing the Judges Class in March or April 2015 at the White Bluff Church of Christ and housing people
perhaps at Montgomery Bell State Park Inn or other places locally. She asked for a price and schedule
7
BOARD MINUTES 5/9/14 (continued)
but has not received any information. They will be deciding in the next few weeks at the annual NQA
meeting as far as the judges schedule. So we will not know anything until our August meeting.”
A question was asked regarding the length of the class. Arieanna confirmed that last time it was just one day.
New Business
Spring Seminar 2015 –. We have two possible locations, St. Mary’s and the Doubletree in Murfreesboro.
Arieanna and Barbara will meet with Doubletree next month. Judy Beckwith said teacher contracts have been
signed for Pat Weiss and Nancy Mahoney, Jean Shaw, Janice Sturrick and she is looking for someone to teach
machine quilting. Judy asked that members let her know what type classes they would be interested in for this
seminar. Fabric Dyeing and Longarm Quilting were suggested. There was discussion about a longarm dealer
moving into middle Tennessee that may be able to provide classes during Seminar.
Proposed Revisions to Standing Rules and By-Laws – Arieanna said that Sena and Jean have been working
on the By-Laws and sent out proposed revisions. The revisions are available on the website. Jean said they
tried to make the Standing Rules and By-Laws consistent. These revisions need to be discussed at the guilds
and any changes or further thoughts should be directed to Sena or Jean. We don’t want to vote on something
that the majority of the members have not read.
Brochure – Sena and Arieanna located one of the old TVQA brochures and have revised it as shown on the
yellow paper she distributed. Please look it over and tell us what you think. Sena will add “Members-at-
Large” to the list of guilds on the back. Brenda got a quote from the printer who does our newsletter and it
will cost about $140 to print two sides on color paper and fold 1,000 brochures. Arieanna noted that we now
have 24 guilds. The brochures can be sent to non-member guilds, quilt shops, quilt shows, etc. Motion was
made and seconded that the brochures be printed so that we can get the word out that TVQA does exist. Mo-
tion was approved.
White Glove Event and Bus Trips – Arieanna asked if anyone was interested in working with the White
Glove show or Bus Trips. No one indicated an interest. Arieanna said it will be removed from the agenda but
left in the Standing Rules in case there is interest at a later date.
Arieanna mentioned that she has received requests for a form for judged quilt shows to use to request ribbons
and cash awards. The original goes to the President and a copy would go to the Newsletter Editor. We do not
have a problem with getting the shows into the newsletter but we do not have anyone making ribbons. She
found patterns for ribbons and samples. At this time, each guild is responsible for making their ribbons for
shows. However, if a guild would like to take on this job, it is available. If guilds send her an email about their
show, she considers that their six-month notice. She has something from Courthouse, Cookeville, and
Murfreesboro regarding their shows but does not have anything from Sparta. A question was asked on how
many ribbons need to be made. Arieanna responded that she would like to have 30. Jean commented that
there are cash awards that go with those as well and she has never received a check request except from the
State Fair. There is a provision in the Standing Rules for a cash prize to accompany the Merit Award and the
Pride in Workmanship Award so we need to get more information to the guilds about this aspect of TVQA.
These shows have to use a TVQA judge to receive the ribbon and cash prize.
8
BOARD MINUTES 5/9/14 (continued)
Traveling Quilts – Arieanna noted that in going through the storage locker she learned that there were two
Traveling Quilts. She will donate two pillowcases to store the quilts in. An acid-free box was suggested for
storing these quilts. They are an important part of our TVQA history. These quilts can be displayed at shows
or special events.
National Quilt Association Membership – Jean reported that our membership is due for renewal and we
need five NQA members in order to renew our group membership. She needs your name, membership num-
ber and date when your membership expires.
Quilts of Valor – Ginger asked that each guild provide one quilt per quarter for Quilts of Valor. She has an
on-going presentation she does in Clarksville quarterly and there are between 20 to 25 military families that
attend and receive a quilt per family. The church in Clarksville sponsors this retreat at Camp Garner Glen.
Guilds with handouts were recognized.
Show and Tell was presented by Lincoln Count Piecemakers.
Door prizes were won by: Melinda Kunkel, Lakeshore; Carolyn Smith, Southern Ladies; Pam Thompson,
Country Quilters; Lisa Mercer, Country Quilters. Congratulations, ladies!!
The next meeting will be on Friday, August 8, 2014. Show & Tell at the August meeting will be pre-
sented by Manchester Quilting Ladies.
Respectfully submitted,
Gayle Grier
Secretary

COOKEVILLE CRAZY QUILTERS
Cookeville Public Library, Cookeville TN
At the half point into the year 2014 the Cookeville
Crazy Quilters have been going strong working on
many projects. The main focus of our planning has
been on the second CCQ Quilt Show in November
2014. Everyone is busy working on the details, ven-
dors, quilts, the guild challenge, etc.
We have completed the snowman block of the month
for 2014. It will be great to see the quilts that come
out of this project. Our monthly 5x5 fabric exchang-
es, 2½ inch strip exchanges, and half square triangle
exchanges have been great fun. This month we are
having a yard sale for guild members only. This is an
opportunity for us to clean out our closets and make
money for new fabric, patterns, and rulers. As always,
one quilter’s extras are another quilter’s delight. Our
annual picnic is coming up in July and we enjoy just
spending the time together, socializing. This year
there will be a surprise entertainer (and no one will tell
us who).
We are getting excited about Assembly Day and see-
ing Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company and
Jim Gatling. What a great time we have and look for-
ward to it every year.
We have enjoyed the Quilt shows so far this year and
are looking forward to the first AQS Quilt Show in
Chattanooga, TN. We are hoping that lots of Ten-
nesseans plan to attend. Representatives from the
Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce were at Paducah
and our President was able to chat with them. The
continuance of the show in Chattanooga after the 3
year commitment will depend on the Tennessee at-
tendance. Let’s show AQS that we want a show in
Tennessee.

bags cover chemo bags so they do not appear so scary
to the children receiving treatments.

different fabrics! We had a retreat at Garner Creek,
thanks to Nancy, Donna and Diana for organizing
these. We have a pieced Celtic Knot class coming
up in August. Plus we are having our 2nd annual
quilt show in White Bluff (see the attached flyer). If
you have time you should come down. It promises
to be a wonderful weekend.

FRIENDSHIP QUILTERS
Smyrna Middle School Library
304 Walnut Street, Smyrna, TN
2nd Saturday 10:00 a.m.
Even with summer heating up soon, the Friendship
Quilters have warm quilts on the mind. Lately we
have been learning new quilting techniques. In April,
member Jo Reid taught a Mystery Mixer in which all
in attendance worked as a team in small groups to
finish the mystery project. Each group made a table
runner and they all turned out beautifully. Libby
Smith visited our guild in May and shared a lesson
with the group on six things to do with a six inch
square. Members also had a fabric swap of the six
inch squares. Back in February member Nancie
Dockery began the Charlotte’s Challenge project in
which members who signed up were challenged to
create a tote bag with fabric donated by our first
guild president Charlotte Montgomery. In June the
challenge ended and those involved brought in their
completed tote bags. There were prizes for first, sec-
ond, third and viewer’s choice. Denni Green came
out with the top prize, with Joann Bardet and Jeanna
DeWitt taking second and third respectively. We are
looking forward to Assembly Day next month and
shopping all the great vendors.

HEARTH AND HOME
Westwood Church of Christ, McMinnville, TN
2nd Monday 9:00 - 9:30 Socialize
9:30 –12:00 Meeting & Lunch
The Hearth and Home Guild has been very busy the
past few months. Our annual retreat to Crossville was
great fun. We enjoyed sewing all day and night. The
food was wonderful and friendships were strength-
ened. During our retreat we heard of the passing of our
dear friend Teresa Mason. She was light-hearted with
a gift of song. She loved the guild, and we miss her
greatly. We take comfort in the fact that she is in heav-
en with our Father.
During the past months several members have shown
us beautiful quilts and projects that they have made.
We now have a mystery quilt and a challenge quilt
that our members are working on. These are due dur-
ing our December meeting. Our challenge quilts must
be red, white, and black only. Our ladies will come up
with beautiful quilts for sure.
Many in our guild have been interested in making
Stack and Whack quilts. Diane Page instructed us as to
how to go about doing this type of quilt. She had lots
of tips to help us. During our May meeting Brenda
Clark showed us how to make a Caitlyn Purse. We
expect to see many new purses at our June meeting.
Our June meeting is dedicated to putting together
Quilts of Valor. Everyone is encouraged to bring their
sewing machines for an all-day event. We are still
making and donating hospice quilts. This is an ongo-
ing project that we have been involved with for sever-
al years. They really help people who are going
through difficult times.

3rd Thursday, 1:00 p.m.
As always we have enjoyed our time together as quilt-
ers and friends; it is so good to have our guilds to
share our work and ideas.
We did have our workday for Ronald McDonald quilts
and also we have worked on Quilts of Valor.
May 29th we had the String Quilt Class and look for-
ward to see show and tell with the projects worked on
in this class. It is always good to see the different ideas
from the same pattern.
We had a trunk show by Wanda Coley of Old South
Fabrics www.Oldsouthfabrics.com . She showed many
projects using the Moda fabrics that she has.
She will be at our meeting in June for a workshop and
we are looking forward to that day.

LAKESHORE QUILTERS
First United Methodist Church, Hendersonville, TN
2nd Mon. 9AM Social - 10AM Business Mtg.
The month of April brought the Paducah Quilt Show.
The Lakeshore Quilt Guild filled a bus to take mem-
bers to a fun filled day at the American Quilters Soci-
ety show. Sue Ellen Watts and Shirley Hammond
handed out fabric packs and challenged members to
create a quilt using those fabrics, adding any other
fabrics they choose.
51 members attended Lakeshore’s Annual Picnic in
May. It was held at Moss Wright Park in Goodletts-
ville, TN. The Guild provided Fried Chicken, sub
sandwiches, rolls, water and members were asked to
bring a covered dish, which resulted in plenty of
scrumptious food. Members were asked to bring
items for the garage sale. We made $223.60 for our
Pro-Bono Fund.
At the June meeting we had a wonderful Trunk Show
courtesy of Wanda Coley of Old South Fabrics. She
had tons of wonderful quilts to show us and gave us
some insight into how she started her online fabric
business. We also offered a free motion quilting
class with Chris Schulte which was quite popular.

The Manchester Quilting Ladies spent their April
sewing day making a scrappy bargello quilt top. Don-
na Castilow taught the class and everyone had a great
time learning from her tips and helpful suggestions.
A Patriotic Project was taught by Judy Patterson dur-
ing the May sew day. Judy went all out with table
decorations and samples of other patriotic items that
she had made !
The guild members are looking forward to our annual
June picnic and not one but three bus trips during this
year!
Hope to see ya’ll when we’re out and about….

MATERIAL GIRLS
Winchester Church of Christ
1230 S College Street, Winchester TN
2nd Tuesday, 6:30 pm
Even with summer heating up soon, the Friendship
Quilters have warm quilts on the mind. Lately we
have been learning new quilting techniques. In April,
member Jo Reid taught a Mystery Mixer in which all
in attendance worked as a team in small groups to fin-
ish the mystery project. Each group made a table run-
ner and they all turned out beautifully. Libby Smith
visited our guild in May and shared a lesson with the
15
group on six things to do with a six inch square.
Members also had a fabric swap of the six inch
squares. Back in February member Nancie Dockery
began the Charlotte’s Challenge project in which
members who signed up were challenged to create a
tote bag with fabric donated by our first guild presi-
dent, Charlotte Montgomery. In June the challenge
ended and those involved brought in their completed
tote bags. There were prizes for first, second, third
and viewer’s choice. Denni Green came out with the
top prize, with Joann Bardet and Jeanna DeWitt tak-
ing second and third respectively. We are looking for-
ward to Assembly Day next month and shopping all
the great vendors.
MAURY QUILTERS
2800 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401
Day Group – 1st Wednesday of each month; 9:30 AM
Night Group – 2nd Thursday of each month; 7:00 PM
We hope our fellow quilters are enjoying summertime
and are making some lovely quilts. Our members
shopped ‘til we dropped as our guild made its annual
“quilt shop hop” in lieu of our May meeting. About
30 members of our gang traveled to three great shops:
Country Store Quilt Shop in Watertown, Lebanon
Vacuum and Sewing Center, and the Dancing Bobbin
Quilt Shop in Spring Hill. All three stores were won-
derful hosts and had beautiful things to purchase. Our
members continue to give back by making monthly
donations of non-perishables to our local Harvest
Share and by creating children’s quilts for foster chil-
dren who are served by our local CASA chapter.
Quilts and carry-all bags are very special for those
children (babies to teens) to receive and carry with
them as they move to various homes. Our wonderful
June program was presented by Jean Odom on
“Vintage Textiles 1840-1940”. Several of our mem-
bers brought antique quilts/rugs to show-and-tell as
well. The Christmas in July program will demon-
strate some ornaments for the winter holiday. We will
learn how to make a snowflake ornament, a pinecone
ornament and gingerbread or a candy cane ornament.
Members are invited to bring a favorite ornament to
share. Keep stitching, and we look forward to seeing
you all at Assembly Day!

All efforts are focused on our August quilt show. This
year will be bigger and better than ever, with vendors,
more entries from outside guilds, free demos, bed
turning, silent auction, door prizes and, of course, our
country store. Our show, entitled "Modern Meets Tra-
dition", will be August 15-16 from 9:00 AM to 5:00
PM at the Lane Agri-Park Community Center at 315

First Monday, 10:00 a.m.
Our guild continues to make the Quilts of Valor for
TVQA. We submitted one at the last meeting in May.
Our new officers have taken over their positions, with
heartfelt thanks going to the previous officers.
Over the last couple of months we had demonstrations
on how to make name tags for presents, whether for
Christmas, birthdays, etc. using recycled cards. An-
other member taught us how to make continuous prai-
rie points. Each month a new technique is taught from
one of our members. A great way to impart
16
knowledge onto others in a smaller relaxed atmos-
phere, as well as a test of our own knowledge.
With all the sewing everyone has done, we've collect-
ed several trash bags full of scraps of batting that will
be made into dog beds for our local
animal shelter.
We are currently in the planning stage for annual
Christmas Bazaar. We try to coincide this with Spar-
ta's, "Christmas In Our Town." This brings out a lot of
shoppers and a chance for us to sell what we've made.
Everyone is looking forward to Assembly Day.
STAR STITCHERS Randall's Chapel Church, 2101 Veteran's Dr.
(Hwy 35), Scottsboro, Al
2nd Thursday 6:30 p.m.
Spring is gone and the hot days of summer are upon
us. School is out and families are contemplating vaca-
tion time. My favorite thing about summer is home
grown tomatoes, okra and green beans.
Star Stitchers voted in our January meeting to clean
out our UFO closet. Carla Rowley has led us in this
venture. We have been steadily busy so our UFO
stacks have somewhat declined. We have had grand
fun.
Our guild is busy making ninepatches for our QOV
quilts. We have more to make.
On Saturday, June 6th, several guild members enjoyed
a wonderful Sit N Sew from 10-3 with Wanda Cooley
from Old South Fabrics. Her shop is in Murfreesboro,
TN ([email protected]). We used a pattern
called “Boxes” and met at a newly renovated building
in Fackler, AL. The building is beautiful and vintage
having been an old time grocery/produce store. Jo
Reid coordinated this class and obtained the usage of
this wonderful old Community Center for the class.
Thanks, Jo!
On the night of our regular monthly guild meeting,
June 12th, Melanie Coakley from Ready-Set-Sew
Shop in East Ridge, TN, brought and displayed items
from various classes she has to offer; literature, gift
certificates and door prizes. Melanie is an exclusive
dealer for Janome, Baby Lock and Elna in the Chatta-
nooga, TN area.
Our guild is preparing and looking forward to Assem-
bly Day, July 19th.

1st Thursday, 5:30 p.m.
Our guild has been working on charity quilts to sup-
port the Marion County Children’s Fund. At the next
Sit and Sew we will be assembling the tops. We are
also planning to begin a charity quilt for the Relay for
Life.
We met together at Sew Notions and assembled the
blocks for the Sequatchee Valley Electric Co-op 75th
Anniversary Quilt top. It was so much fun seeing all
the electrically inspired blocks made by quilters from
all over the four counties.
Our members are looking forward to joining in the
challenge of the Row-by-Row Experience offered by
quilts shops all over the country. Guild member
Michelle Curry of Sew Notions quilt shop is a partici-
pating shop. The row her shop is offering was de-
signed by Gayle Grier.
Guild member Becky Miller will teach a Blooming
Nine Patch Class for the guild this fall.
