Overview of the SITRANS P range:
SITRANS P MPS
For convenient hydrostatic level
measurements
The SITRANS P transmitter, MPS series, is
used for hydrostatic level measurements.
It is immersed into the medium to be mea-
sured by hanging on a cable. The sensor
has a stainless steel enclosure and is suit-
able for applications ranging from drinking
water up to corrosive liquids.
SITRANS P Z
The single-range transmitter for relative
and absolute pressures
Two types of pressure sensor are used in
the Series Z: a stainless steel sensor and
a sensor with ceramic diaphragm. One
version of the Series Z is designed for the
requirements of the compressor and pump
industry with brass enclosure.
SITRANS P ZD
Transmitter with digital display and stain-
less steel enclosure
The SITRANS P ZD digital pressure transmit-
ter is provided with a display and a facility
for turndown by 10:1. The enclosure as
well as the process connection are made of
stainless steel. The digital display is avail-
able either radially or axially to the process
connection.
SITRANS P Compact
For the special requirements of the F&B, phar-
maceutical and biotechnology industries.
The SITRANS P Compact is an analog trans-
mitter which has been specially developed
for the requirements of the food & bever-
age, pharmaceutical and biotechnology
industries. The design corresponds to the
hygiene requirements of EHEDG, FDA, and
GMP. The increased hygiene demands are
satisfi ed by a wide range of aseptic stain-
less steel process connections as well as
stainless steel housing. Cleaning and steri-
lization procedures (CIP, SIP) are handled
without problem.
SITRANS P300
The reference unit in stainless steel
housing
The SITRANS P300 stands for measuring
precision and ruggedness, and primarily
for an advanced operating concept. The
SITRANS P300 carries over these proven
virtues into the food and beverage indus-
try as well as pharmaceutical processes. It
is an integral component of the SITRANS P
range as a result of its maximum deviation
in measurement of 0.075 %, a hygienic
stainless steel housing with lasered rating
plate, and the proven SITRANS P DS III local
operating philosophy.
Cleaning (CIP) and sterilization (SIP) of the
process volume during measuring mode
are handled without drift at a specifi ed
temperature range of 302 °F (150 °C). You
are supported in evaluation of your clean-
ing processes by the drag pointers which
record the min./max. values of the sensor
SITRANS P is a complete range of instruments for measuring relative, differential and abso-
lute pressure. In addition to high measuring precision and ruggedness, convincing features
include the operating convenience and functionality of the modular system as well as the
perfect safety concept. In other words, we have a proven range of products for all applications.

and the large, freely-programmable display
is at least as exact.
This has been standard with SITRANS P for
a long time already: the versatility for every
application. Whether manual or HART
operation, or operation via SIMATIC PDM –
everything is possible.
Remote seals
The measuring possibilities of the SITRANS P
line are extended by a wide range of remote
seals. These are used when measuring hot,
corrosive, highly viscous, or crystallizing
media. The following types of remote seals
are available:
Flange according to EN, ASME, etc.
either rigid connection to the transmit-
ter or via fl exible capillary
Various fi lling liquids for temperatures
of medium up to 750 °F (400 °C)
Many different diaphragm materials
Special versions specifi c to the sector –
for example food and beverage
temperature. You can read out the process
data via a HART or PROFIBUS PA interface.
The SITRANS P300 is available combined
with absolute or relative pressure measur-
ing cells. The range of process connections
covers those for the food and beverage
industry, pharmaceutical, and paper indus-
tries, up to classical threaded and fl anged
versions.
SITRANS P DS III
Digital transmitters with integral diagnos-
tics function, HART or PROFIBUS PA com-
munication, and convenient key operation
Within a range from 1 mbar to 400 bar,
the SITRANS P DSIII line has no problem
whatsoever with extreme chemical and
mechanical loads or electromagnetic infl u-
ences. It offers additional safety functions
such as plant and self-monitoring, fault
diagnostics and signaling when the next
calibration is due. The self-test function is
unique for fail-safe operation. Measuring
cells can be replaced in no time, meaning
that repairs on site are fast, simple and
cost-saving. In addition to convenient local
operation, SITRANS P transmitters can be
fully remote-controlled digitally using the
PROFIBUS PA, Foundation Fieldbus or HART
protocol.
SITRANS P DSIII is designed for nominal
pressures up to PN 420. The wetted parts
are available in stainless steel, Tantalum,
Hastelloy®, Monel®, or gold plated.

Temperature Measuring Instruments

Coriolis Mass Flowmeters
The SITRANS F C coriolis fl ow meter is one
of the most accurate fl ow measurement
technologies, measuring true mass fl ow
unaffected by variations in pressure, tem-
perature, density, electrical conductivity,
and viscosity. It is a multivariable device
delivering reliable information on mass
fl ow, volume fl ow, temperature, density,
and concentration (e. g. Brix or Baume).

The SIPART PS2 electropneumatic posi-

The OXYMAT 6 is an oxygen analyzer,
optionally in 19” design or in a robust fi eld
housing for installation in harsh atmos-

The “Totally Integrated Automation” platform concept has made perfect interplay between
all the components and functions in a process a reality. The prerequisite is powerful software
such as SIMATIC PDM which provides optimum support for commissioning, maintenance
and diagnostics of all fi eld devices known as Asset Management.
SIMATIC PDM
SIMATIC PDM (Process Device Manager) is a
universal, manufacturer-independent tool
for planning, confi guring, commissioning,
diagnosing and maintaining intelligent fi eld
devices (sensors and actuators) and fi eld
components (remote I/Os, multiplexers,
maintenance devices, compact regulators).
Over 1200 process devices by more than 100
manufacturers are supported by SIMATIC PDM.
The construction and function of the de-
vices can be described using the Electronic
Device Description Language (EDDL), based
on the leading EDD international standard
(Electronic Device Description; IEC 61804).
SIMATIC PDM utilizes this to automatically
create an easy-to-use user interface with the
corresponding information about the process
devices. The extension and standardization
of the EDDL into Enhancement Levels 1 and 2
means a wide range of important functions
are available in the EDD, including the OPC
unifi ed architecture.
Communication with process devices is by
HART, PROFIBUS or alternative protocols.
HART – fi eld communications protocol
The HART® communication standard is widely
used for fi eld devices. HART devices are
defi ned by the HCF (HART Communication
Foundation). The HART standard extends
analog 4 – 20 mA signals to modulated, indus-
try-quality, digital HART signals. The advan-
tage is the combination of tried-and-tested
measurement-value transfer and simultaneous
digital communication with bi-directional,
acyclic transfer. This allows transfer of diag-
nosis, maintenance and process information
from fi eld devices to higher-level systems.
Standardized parameter sets can be used for
the manufacturer-independent operation
of all HART devices. HART device descriptions
(EDD) are used to integrate HART devices into
the SIMATIC PDM. This guarantees simple
operation and commissioning of fi eld devices,
even in isolated locations.
PROFIBUS
Decentralized automation solutions based on
open fi eld busses are currently standard in
many areas of the production and process
industry. The advantages of digital communi-
cation can only be fully utilized in connection
with fi eld buses, including a higher resolution
of measurement values, diagnostic options
and remote parameterization. PROFIBUS is
currently the most successful open fi eld bus,
providing a fl exible platform for a variety of
applications. Based on the IEC 61158 stand-
ard, it is a reliable investment and suitable
for fast communication in production and
process automation. It is the fi rst fi eld bus
and fulfi lls the requirements of both branches
with the same communication performance.
PROFIBUS PA is tailored to the requirements
of the process industry.
ASSET MANAGEMENT
Asset Management comprises all activities
and measures that serve to maintain or
increase the value of a plant. This primarily
includes value-conserving and value-increas-
ing maintenance and servicing (plant-specifi c

SIMATIC PDM is particularly suited to plant-
specifi c Asset Management due to its com-
prehensive functionality for planning,
confi guring, commissioning, diagnosis and
maintenance of intelligent fi eld devices and
components. To provide meaningful and
reliable results, Asset Management Systems
require large amounts of basic information.
SIMATIC PDM can provide the device data
relevant for plant-specifi c Asset Management
and transfer it to higher-level Asset Manage-
ment Systems in XML format via a uniform in-
terface. It is based on the device descriptions
(EDD) that are independent of the operating
system. Extraction of information and inter-
pretation of results are independent of the
type of device, i.e. it is irrelevant whether the
device is an actuator or sensor, a PROFIBUS
or a HART device. However, SIMATIC PDM is
more than just a data logger for higher-level
Asset Management systems. It offers

functions in itself.
