1 Contents of this document
This document details all aspects of the surface preparation, application of coatings, quality control, environmental control and organisation of this project. Together with this document the following documents are used:

This procedure describes the application of the corrossion protection system.
3 Project Organisation
The project is managed by the site-manager who is responsible for all activities on the yard.For the organogram and responsibilities and personnel see attachements.

5 Health, Safety and Environment
DCS will do their utmost to ensure that all activities will be done in such a way that no harm can come to the people working on the project, nor to the environment. To ensure this a project HSE plan has been prepared in which in detail is described how DCS has organised this.We are VCA* 2008/5.1 certified and therefore all working procedures and workinstructions are noted in our Quality Handbook. All activities performed by our personnel are done according to these procedures and instructions. All our procedures and instructions can be read in our handbook which is available at our site-office.
6 Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Since a high standard of quality is allways our goal, we will make sure that on this project everything is done according to the required specifications as well as our own quality standards which ever are higher.We are ISO9001-2008 certified and therefore all working procedures and workinstructions are noted in our Quality Handbook. All activities performed by our personnel are done according to these procedures and instructions. 8 Repair paintsystems
- Touch up and Repair of 3 gradations of damages -
1)Damaged Toplayer 2)Damaged Mid Layer(s) 3)Damaged to substrate (bare steel)
If possible we will use CO2 ice blasting as a cleaning method. This way we will not damage the blast profile.CO2 pallets are propelled with compressed air onto the surface and remove all dirt, grease and rust. The CO2 vaporizes and no waste material is left.
1)Damaged Toplayer Surface to be repaired should be clean, dry and free from any contamination. Prior to paintapplication the surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with following procedure: -Solvent cleaning to SSPC-SP1 of the damaged area -Roughening up by means of sandpapering -Adjacent area (an overlap of 5 cm) of existing paint to be roughened = cutback surrounding existing
paint by means of sandpapering -Removal of dust -Application of Toplayer shall be such that the whole roughened area, including an overlap of 5 cm on
the existing roughened paint, shall be painted 2) Damaged up to Mid Layer(s) Surface to be repaired should be clean, dry and free from any contamination. Prior to paintapplication the surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with following procedure: -Solvent cleaning to SSPC-SP1 of the damaged area -Roughening up by means of sandpapering -Adjacent area (an overlap of 5 cm) of existing paint to be roughened = feathering surrounding
existing paint by means of sandpapering -Removal of dust -Application of mid layer(s) and top layer shall be such that the whole roughened area, including an
overlap of 5 cm on the existing roughened paint, shall be painted
3) Damaged up to and including the first layer - to substrate (bare steel) Surface to be repaired should be clean, dry and free from any contamination. Prior to paintapplication the surface should be assessed and treated in accordance with following procedure: -Solvent cleaning to SSPC-SP1 of the damaged area -Expand untill accessibility for powertool (SSPC SP3) by means of 3M discs, IBIX or
blasting/vacuumblasting

(Powertoolcleaning shall only be executed after approval of Heerema) -Feather edging without leaving sharp edges on the existing paint -Adjacent area (an overlap of 5 cm) of existing paint to be roughened = feathering surrounding
existing paint by means of sandpapering -Removal of dust -Application of system as specified, with the exception of the primer for which a different primer
suitable for powertooled surfaces will be determined, shall be such that the whole powertooled area, including an overlap of 5 cm on the existing roughened paint, shall be painted
9 Surface cleanliness
All blast cleaned surfaces shall be subject to a 100% visual inspection to determine if the requested cleanliness and anchor profile has been achieved prior to coating application.All surfaces are to be free from dust, grit, and any contaminates likely to jeopardize coating performance. Random cleanliness checks are to be conducted.
10 Inspection equipment
For the measurement of the temperature, relative humidity and steeltemperature a Digital Dewcheck will be used.For the measurement of the Dry Film Thickness a digital DFT meter will be used.This equipment is calibrated in accordance with company procedures , frequency once per year and has clear identification of calibration status, and unique identification.
11 Documentation
All activities will be logged in the computerized QC information system. There are two possible reports which can be printed with the entered data. One is a daily report which shows all activities sorted per location. The other report is an item report which shows all activities per treated item sorted by date.Examples of these two reports are attached.
12 Final inspection
All items shall be subject to a final inspection to ensure that compliance with this document has been adhered to prior to release.

Adhesion testing on metallizing layers can be executed almost directly after applicaton of the metallizing layer.
1.1 In case of a rough metallized surface sand with sandingpaper and remove dust from the surface 1.2 Clean the surface in in a matter that will not affect the integrity of the coating, nor leave a residue2. Glue the dollies on the preserved surface with special glue -Araldite 2000+3. Let the glue harden out the prescribed time with a weight on the dollie4. Carefully cut around the dollie to the substrate, unless the test has to be non-destructive then don't cut and remove the dolly after the pull off test by heating the dollie5. Place the pull off tester on the dollie en push on the tester until all 4 legs hit the surface6. Set the scale to zero and slowly increase the pressure until the dollie detaches from the surface, unless the test has to be non-destructive increase the pressure until the desired value is reached7. The scale on the pull off tester gives the value of the testresult

method1. Put the magnetic plate on the surface to be tested2. Brush, with the nylon brush, the area surrounding the metal plate clean to assure the adhesion of the test cell3. Remove the metal plate without touching the underlaying surface4. Remove the backside of the test cell with the protection plate of the reservoir and glue the test cell on the spot marked by the metal plate5. Rinse the testtube and the syringe with clean demi-water 0 - max. 5 MS/CM6. Fill the test tube with clean demi-water and rinse the syringe clean in this water7. Remove the water from the test-tube and fill it up with 15 ml demi-water8. Fill the syringe with demi-water from the test-tube and squirt it back in the test-tube9. Measure with the probe the (neutral) value of the demi-water in the test-tube and note this value10. Suck up with the syringe 3ml of demi-water11. Inject this amount into the test-cell through the spongy foam perimeter of the test cell and leave the needle in the reservoir12. Stir the demi-water by sucking it in and out of the syringe for some time13. Suck the test-cell empty and squirt the water in the test-tube14. Measure with the probe the value of the water and note this (see special notebook in holding case)15. Deduct the neutral value from this value and multiply this value by six, note this value (=mg Soluble Salts per m²) (see special notebook in holding case)

Because it is not possible to meausure every square centimeter, we follow, during the use of a magnetic filmthickness meter, the following method;
On every 10 square meter surface of one piece (fieldplate) on 5 different spots measurements have to be executed.Each of these measurements must consist of 3 measurements abreast.The average of these 5 measurements (are actually 15 measurements totally) must be within the specified Dry Filmthickness.A single measurement which is 80% of the required Dry Film Thickness is accepted.A single measurement, (=1 of the 3 measurements of a spot measurement) which has a higher deviation than required acceptable.
For example:Required Dry Film Thickness is 250 micron. The on 5 different spots determined measurements show the following measurements:
