The Quality of a Momin
Hadith of Rasool-Allah [Peace be upon him] As narrated by Ameer-ul-Momineen Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib
[RA] Said Ali Ibne Abi Talib: “I asked Allah’s messenger about
the quality of a Momin
(True Believer). He answered, “Where is he? He is like a ruby which is not found but in the treasures of the kings.”
He said: "Momin does not become Momin unless he understands by knowledge, speaks by wisdom, avoids the
unlawful, is soft in speech, swift in being pleased, slow in
anger. He learns when taught and keeps calm when abused. If you accompany him you will be safe, if you share with
him you will be benefited. If you will leave him you will repent. He is obedient to Almighty and hospitable to the
neighbor. His heart is lit with Allah’s knowledge and upon
his tongue remembrance always of Allah. His body is patient on Allah’s tests. He himself is hardship but people
are in ease on account of him. His, is the example of water, which is the source of life for all. His imagination is all
light. His knowledge is life. He dislikes the world, is least
troublesome, praises openly and keeps away From show. If called to a good deed he hastens, and if
called to a sin he desists. He is true in tongue, patient in nature, rich in heart, generous of soul, economic in
affluence and poverty. If you trust him he will honor it and
if he trusts you he will never blame you. Father to the orphans, kind to the widows, towards heaven he is always
an aspirant. Never disobeys parents. If he were above you he will condescend for you, and if he will be below you he
will help you. His is the example of a tree whose root is
firm and whose boughs are high and whose branches are
long and whose fruits are abundant. He who looks at him is pleased. If you give him he is pleased and thankful, and if
not given he is contented and resigned. His is the example of a honey-bee, which imbibes from all sorts of flowers and
feeds the sweet product to small and big."
