Ready for First Practice OnlineThis course consists of two practice tests for the Cambridge English: First (FCE) exam. Each test consists of a complete Reading and Use of English paper, a complete Listening paper, and a complete Writing paper with model answers provided for each writing task.

UNIT NUMBERPractice Test 1

This is a Cambridge English: First (FCE) practice test. It corresponds to CEFR level B2 and mirrors the format of the Cambridge English: First exam. The test includes complete practice for the Reading and Use of English, Writing and Listening papers of the exam.

Listening Focusing on understanding any of the following: general meaning, specific detail, attitude, feeling, opinion, purpose, topic, relationship, place, situation, agreement or genre, by listening to people talking in eight different situations. Focusing on understanding different pieces of information by listening somebody giving a talk and keying in a word or phrase to complete sentences. Focusing on matching speakers to functions by listening to five people talking on a topic and keying in the correct answer. Focusing on listening for details and opinions by listening to an interview.

Writing Focusing on the skills needed for the Writing paper. In Part 1, you have to write an Essay on a given topic using the notes given and an idea of your own. In Part 2, you have to write one of the following: an Article, a Letter or Email, a Report or a Review.

Reading and Use of English

Focusing on vocabulary by selecting the correct word to complete a text. Focusing on grammar by keying in the missing word to complete a short text. Focusing on word formation by keying in the correct form of a word to complete a text with gaps. focusing on grammar and vocabulary by keying in the missing words to complete a second sentence so that it means the same as the first. Focusing on understanding of information given and points made in a longer text by answering multiple-choice questions. Focusing on understanding text structure by choosing the correct sentence to complete a long text. Focusing on matching pieces of information with the sections of a text in which they are mentioned.
