Introduction
• Red Tacton is a new human area network technology.
• It gives us safe and high speed network transmission.
• RedTacton is a technology developed by Japanese company NTT
• Instead of relying on electromagnetic waves or light waves to carry data, RedTacton uses weak electric fields on the surface of the body as a transmission medium.
RED TACTON
• Def :- “Red Tacton is a new Human
Area Networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a safe, high speed network transmission path. Red Tacton uses the minute electric field emitted on the surface of the human body”.
Principle
How it works
Red Tacton relies upon the principle that the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak electric field.
Block diagram of red Tacton transceiver
Mechanism of communication with Red Tacton
Working Procedure
• Transmitter sends data• Transmitting transceiver creates a change in the field• Field from human body dissipates into earth• Electric field is received using sensing technology• Receiving transceiver recognizes the change in the
electric field• sensing technology measures the weak electric fields
induced. • Electro-optical crystal uses laser to convert and read
the signal
Experiment on human body
Human Area Network
• In addition to the WANs (Internet) and LANs, there are applications best served by Human Area Networks (HANs) that connect the last meter
• Human society is entering an era of ubiquitous computing, where everything is networked
Security
The transmitting and receiving electrodes of the RedTacton transceiver are completely covered with insulating film
When communication occurs , displacement current is generated by the electrons in the body because the body is subjected to minute electrical fields. However, such displacement currents are very common everyday occurrences to which we are all subjected.
You decide what to share with whom and what devices you communicate with
Three features
• Touch• Broad Band• Any Media
Touch
Touching, gripping, sitting, walking, stepping and other human movements can be the triggers for unlocking or locking, starting or stopping equipment, or obtaining data
BROADBAND & INTERACTIVE • Duplex, interactive communication is possible at a maximum
speed of 10Mbps. Because the transmission path is on the surface of the body, transmission speed does not deteriorate in congested areas where many people are communicating at the same time.
• Maximum communication speed may be slower than 10Mbps depending on the usage environment.
Media
In addition to the human body, various conductors and dielectrics can be used as transmission media. Conductors and dielectrics may also be used in combination
PROTOTYPES
Red Tacton transreceiver (PC card type)
Hub type
Applications
AN Alarm sounds automatically to avoid accidental medicine ingestion
Touch advertising and receive information
Draw backs
• It has no compelling applications that aren’t already available.
• Too costly.• It can be useful within few
centimetres
Why Red Tacton
• More secure than Bluetooth.
• Superior than infrared technology.
• Superior than Wi-Fi.
Security applications
Conclusion
• We conclude that, when we compare Red Tacton with other technology present today it can give a better performance over others
• And we can say that to connect the network with in short distances Red Tacton is best.
• In this technology there is no problem of hackers as our body is itself a media.

Advantages
• Data transfer is faster and easier through this technology
• Data loss during transfer is less• Use of minimum amount of power(of
some milli volt range)• Security is more
