Writing instructions, this module helped me to focus on what the audience what to
know, and how I can deliver the information they need in the most effective way. In the
beginning of the assignment, I and my classmates started to look through what we are
writing about. Then we started analyzing the situation, what should be added, what should
not, and trying to figure a way that the instructions will be read and understood by every
level of knowledge, wither you are a professional, or a beginner. We wrote the instructions,
then we created a usability test, the goal of this test is to see if the instructions we wrote will
accomplish the goals we sat in the beginning. We asked three people to test our
instructions, and give us their feedback. I was surprised of the result. Two of the three said
that the instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow. They went through the instruction
and did not get lost while following it. One of the three was complaining about a part of
Microsoft word that we have nothing to do with it. He had a problem that whenever he click
on the tab, Microsoft word will not allow him to open anything else unless he close the tab.
We could not solve the problem because it is not reachable. If we could debug Microsoft
word to fix it we would. They suggested to add one thing. An introduction. They said it is
better to have a headline about the instructions to let the user knows what these
instructions will help him to achieve. In the overall, our participants were satisfied about the
instructions we wrote.
By writing drafts, talking to my class mates and share the ideas each one of us had.
All this allowed me to improve my skills in communications, and cooperation.
