Fall in Riverview is a beautiful time of year. The warm temperatures and scenic nature trails beckon residents to get out and enjoy the changing season. After the excitement of summer, I always look forward to getting back into a regular routine again.
With children heading back to school, this is the ideal time of year for the whole family to try something new. Whatever your age, our staff in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations have arranged a host of affordable programs and activities to help you stay active. Explore the guide to discover a sport or leisure activity to suit your needs and busy schedule!
Getting involved is a great way to make new friends in the community. I especially encourage residents to attend our 40th anniversary celebration on September 27 at the Coverdale Centre. We’ll have live music, refreshments and a historical photo display highlighting the best of Riverview over the last 40 years. Whether you’re new to town or a life-long resident it promises to be a fun-filled evening and I hope to see you there.
On behalf of Riverview Town Council and staff, I invite you take advantage of the many recreation programs and special events the Town has to offer.

Our dedicated and highly competent team of professionals continue to work hard to provide the quality programs, activities, and facilities that we are known for and that the public continue to enjoy. With continued community consultation and participation, the Parks, Recreation and Community Relations Department continues to be a key driver in promoting economic development, enhancing the environment, and facilitating healthy lifestyles.
As the seasons change, so does opportunities for recreation and leisure. The Parks Recreation and Community Relations Department has designed a full slate of programs and events to keep you and your family healthy, entertained and active during the fall. You can find some of these options listed inside the 2013 Fall Activity Guide. Cooler weather does not limit your activity to the indoors. Getting outside provides a change of scenery; it also allows you to enjoy nature as the colors become more vibrant and the morning and evening air more brisk. You can take a walk on our trails, resume your commitment to fitness, join a swim class, learn how to skate, or attend the Harvest Festival events designed for the whole family.
I encourage you to review this Activity Guide and visit our website, townofriverview.ca, and take advantage of the fun and exciting activities, programs and events available to you and your family, both indoors and outdoors.
On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to thank the community for the opportunity to serve you, and extend an invitation to continue to partner with us to provide our citizens of all ages, a great place to grow.

Please note: This is NOT a Children’s Playground and should not be used by anyone under the age of 12 years. Please do not park on the trail or along the access ramp to the causeway.
What a great alternative to an indoor fitness facility. With exercise equipment designed for adults and seniors, this serious workout gear is tough enough to be left outside all year-round. The machines are made specifically for ages 12 and up (adult supervision required under the age of 16 yrs.).
Live, work & play healthyIn motion is a community-wide initiative to live, work and play in a healthy and active Riverview.
In motion’s 30-30-30 solution details a shared responsibility to ensure everyone gets at least 90 minutes of physical activity every day in the three sectors of the model: home, school/work and community. Each sector is encouraged to share the responsibility for providing 30 minutes of physical activity each day for a total of 90 minutes.
If every person in Riverview assumed their responsibility of the 30-30-30 solution, they would meet Canada’s national guidelines for physical activity.

THE TOWN OF RIVERVIEW’S
3RD ANNUAL
The Town of Riverview is inviting you to take part in Random Acts of Kindness Day or RAK Day. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage generosity, physical activity, and community involvement. Using the ‘pay it forward’ idea, we will be encouraging people in our community to help others by: raking leaves, buying a coffee, giving a drive, sharing a meal, giving a card, babysitting, etc. As an act of kindness is completed, the person receiving the kindness will also receive a card that encourages them to pass it on. Cut out the card below and ‘pass it on’ to the person for whom you fulfilled a Random Act of Kindness!
You are a recipient of The Town of Riverview’s Random Act of KindnessSaturday, September 28 marks the Town of Riverview’s 3rd Annual Random Act of Kindness Day. Please
pay it forward; perform a Random Act of Kindness for someone else, and hand them this card! Have you been a recipient of a Random Act of Kindness? If so, please go to our facebook page and tell us about it!
