Rome Police Department Monthly Report May 2016

Meetings/Training Attended During the month of May I attended Town Board, and PFC meetings. All the Officers completed firearms qualification. Calls for Service, Citations, and Written Warnings In May officers handled 106 calls for service, and issued 188 citations and 77 written warnings. Department Activities/Announcements Regulatory buoys have been placed in lakes Camelot and Sherwood for the 2016 boating season. Boat patrol staff is in place for the 2016 boat patrol season. We have four officers on the roster for the 2016 boating season. The officers will work Friday thru Sunday as the weather warrants for boating enforcement on our local lakes. The Boat Patrol logged 28 hours of patrol in May and issued 6 citations and 18 warnings for various boating law violations. I would remind boaters to ensure they have read the current boating law pamphlet and are following it prior to hitting the water this summer. The regulations are in place to ensure everyone’s safety on our lakes. I have installed a Panasonic Arbitrator Camera System in the 2014 Dodge Charger. This camera system was funded by a State of Wisconsin speed enforcement grant that had an equipment allowance as well as overtime funds for speed enforcement. I will remind residents that the Rome Police Department will continue to enforce traffic laws with extra officers on-duty through the summer months. This enforcement is the result of being awarded grants through the State of Wisconsin. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and City of Adams Police Department were also awarded traffic task force grants for this same time frame. We are still waiting for delivery of the 2016 Squad and are hoping to receive and have it in service by the end of June. Jason Lauby – Chief of Police
