Last Week’s Recap
During Last week’s meeting the Rotary
Club of Lucaya had the pleasure of wel-
coming Mrs. Deborah Pratt as the guest
speaker. She taught the fundamentals of
“Pursuing Your Purpose With Passion.”
Passion requires going after a goal, while purpose is understand-
ing the reason for which we exist. Pratt encouraged the mem-
bers to discover their purpose and to follow their dreams.
With teary eyes and to her surprise,
Membership Chair Mrs. Minna Out-
ten—Winters was awarded the Rotar-
ian of the Quarter for her dedication
and commitment in rendering service
above self to her club and in the com-
munity. Congratulations !
Conflict and violence displace millions of people each year.
Half of those killed in conflict are children, (just look within
your community) and 90 percent are civilians.
A few ways to help resolve conflicts in your community:
Improving Quality of life– Providing food, clothing, medications
and other necessities.
Raising awareness of bullying— Volunteer your time with schools on
the island and teach/ talk to children about different ways to handle
conflict. Training leaders, including potential youth leaders, to pre-
vent and mediate conflict.
Protecting domestic violence victims and their families— Both men
and women are subject to domestic violence and helping provide
shelter, food, clothing and counseling can help on the road to recov-
ery.
1. Rotary’s first Area of Focus is peace.
2. Rotary’s largest peace program is the Rotary Peace Fellowship.
3. Districts are what make the Rotary Peace Fellowship success-
ful.
