Call to Worship Psalm 34:9-10
O fear the LORD, you his holy ones,
for those who fear God have no want.
The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
Voluntary Le Banquet Céleste (The Heavenly Banquet) Olivier Messiaen
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. (John 6:56)
*Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin
and sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts.
Give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service,
that all people may know the glorious liberty of the children of God;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.
*Hymn 504 bulletin, p. 5 We Come as Guests Invited WIE LIEBLICH IST DER MAIEN
*Prayer of Confession
O Lord our God,
you call us to work for a world
where all will be fed and have dignity,
but we find ourselves distracted by our own desires.
You call us to seek justice and peace,
but we are satisfied with injustice and discord.
You call us to bring liberty to the oppressed,
but we do not insist on freedom for all.
Forgive us, O Lord.
Turn us to your will by the power of your Spirit,
so that all may know your justice and peace;
through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior.
Silence is kept.
Congregational responses are in bold print.

1992) first published
work (1928), an organ

*Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand
of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church; the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
