The City of Fairlawn, Ohio Halloween Movie NightThe City of Fairlawn in Ohio hosted a hugely successful Halloween movie event for their community featuring “Hocus Pocus.” To enhance the screening, the Fairlawn Parks & Recreation department provided a campfire with s’mores, popcorn, glow necklaces, black cat lollipops and witch broom necklaces. And best of all, the event was completely free. Laurie Beisecker, the park’s director, said her organization loved this event because it brought adults and children together from their city and several surrounding communities.

Top10 Halloween MOVIES
Swell the season’s merriment with a Breakfast with Santa event! In addition to breakfast and pics, invite a local choral group to sing carols and top off the celebration with a screening of a holiday flick featuring jolly ol’ St. Nick! And, of course, the reason for the season is giving, so consider making the cost of the event a contribution to a charity toy drive.
This winter, make sure your park has all the trimmings by pairing a tree lighting ceremony with a festive, all-ages holiday film! Make sure you have plenty of hot cocoa and apple cider for sale – or for free – to keep attendees warm, and consider inviting local businesses and crafters to sell their goods to simplify holiday shopping for everyone in attendance.

Christmas in the Park is an annual San José holiday tradition. For more than 30 years, the festive event has brought together people from all over the Bay Area to take part in holiday activities and celebrations. The event features more than 500 decorated Christmas trees, more than 60 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights, holiday-themed refreshments, a 60-foot Community Giving Tree, visits with Santa and nightly entertainment. The organization added holiday movies to the event a few years ago with great success. “People love them!” said Jason Minsky, Executive Director of Christmas in the Park. “We get requests and have families asking us in advance what we are showing each year. It’s very rewarding to see families huddled up together to watch holiday classics and enjoy a night of family fun.”
