Principal’s News….
At South Street Primary School we grow people who: Are creative, curious and independent learners. Are resilient and problem solve when faced
with challenges. Respect and care about themselves, each other and the world in which we live.
We acknowledge the Gunai Kurnai people as traditional
owners of this land and pay our respects to elders both past
and present.
Snippets
It’s been awesome to see our 3 – 6 students return to school this week. It has been a very positive return for all students.
We would like to thank all parents & guardians for their effort and support over the past 8 weeks. We know that this was a challenging time for everyone. If anyone needs any sup-port moving forward please contact the
school .
During Remote Learning it was Education Support Day.
This is a day to recognises all our ES, Office staff, & Wellbeing team at South Street. We are going to be celebrating this tomorrow.
I would like to thank all our ES staff for their awesome contributions to our school.
Without the work of these staff members we would not be able to achieve the academic and social/emotional outcomes that we achieve.
They do a power of work to support our students to be the best they can.
WELL DONE TO AN AWESOME TEAM.
Drink Bottles
All children are required to come to school with their own drink bottle as all drinking taps are out of use.
EXTRA CLEANING &
GOOD HYGIENE
To support the health & wellbeing of all our students & staff, our school will continue an enhanced cleaning routine & will encourage frequent hand washing.
Sanitiser, hand soap and disinfectant wipes are available in all classrooms. We have extra funding for cleaning and have a cleaner onsite during throughout the day. Classrooms, school building and playgrounds are disinfected everyday using a disinfectant spray.
All Foundation – 2 students now have a pencil case each with their own supplies to prevent sharing of resources.
DROP OFF ZONE – BEALIBA RD
Thank you to all the parents that have been obeying the rules of the drop off zone and not using it as a parking area. Thank you to parents for not parking on the nature strips across from the
school. This is a signed no parking area. We also have the drop off Zone at the MELC.
News & Updates
2A have written to their
pen pals in Sydney with
advice on how to survive
isolation. We had many
ideas, things like make
learning fun, buy an Xbox,
play with your brothers or
sisters, make your own
game, use Zoom to call
your friends, write letters
to friends or teachers and
many more. We cannot
wait to hear back from
our Pen Pals.
SNIPPETS ONLINE
During this term we are going to be trialling electronic only publishing of Snippets. Snippets will be available on Sentral, Facebook page and on our school webpage. We will have some Snip-pets available in the foyer if parents require hard copies.
There are a number of reasons for this:
Nearly all families have an email and are successfully logged into Sentral.
Sentral and Facebook has been a positive communication tool during remote learning.
Saving of paper resources in printing of Snippets.
Making sure Parents have multiple ways of accessing Snippets.
ENROLMENTS OPEN FOR - 2021
It’s that time of year when enrolments are rapidly coming in for students who will begin school next year.
It is vital to complete an enrolment form as soon as possible so we
can begin planning for 2021.
If you know of any other families that are thinking of coming to South St, please let them know
that enrolments are open and they can call to book an appointment for a tour of the school and collect an enrolment pack.
CAMPS AND EXCURSIONS
We have our 3/4 and 5/6 camps planned for mid-November. At this stage we are planning for these camps to go ahead.
We are going to develop a payment plan for parents as we don’t want children to miss out if we are able to hold camps.
If they do not go ahead, parents will receive full refunds.
More information will be provided in the near future.
