Grunhaus (Greenhouse)
Plaza at Centrally Located Restaurant
Drawing inspiration from Cincinnati’s German Heritage for its name, the “Grunhaus” area brings life to the southwest area of Burnet Woods, and emphasizes connections between the existing amenities. The greenhouse area includes a fully functional greenhouse, that will help to serve the restaurant, as well as public spaces that include a plaza and memory garden.

One could either follow the beautiful Trellis from Burnet Woods Drive, or enter directly from Clifton Avenue; either way the Central Restaurant’s location is ideal for use by any
and all residents or visitors of the area. A central plaza continues linkages between the park’s amenities and allows
for variable public spaces and interaction amongst users.

The extended plaza area will reach from the restaurant plaza and connect to the improved playscape south of the Restaurant. Concrete and Wood materials are used for organically owing furniture that helps create a sense of place and relaxation in the bustling urban environment.
From the trellis looking at the proposed central restaurant location. The Restaurant is surrounded by beautiful public spaces that enable a social atmosphere.
This view shows the trellis walkway, and its connection to the Restaurant plaza and playscape improvements. A central path leads you from the trellis into the public spaces and towards paths that help connect park goers to the rest of the amenities that the park has to oer.
The greenhouse area includes a turn-a-round that allows for those traveling on Brookline Drive to safely head back north for their recreational stroll, or scenic drive through Burnet Woods. The greenhouse is surrounded by public space that reiterates the modern, urban, natural feeling.

The Historical Burnet Woods Bandstand is the focal point of the new and improved Burnet Woods Drive loop. This proposed design incorporates additional public space, less impervious surface, as well as additonal parking spaces. Safe pedestrian connections are key, as is the aestethetically pleasing linkage between the proposed Central Restaurant Location and the improved parking. A new Trellis covered walkway allows park-goers to immerse themselves in a natural oasis as they travel from Burnet Woods Drive to the new park amenities which include: a restuarant, plaza, improved playground, new recreational trail, greenhouse and gardens.

Modern,Urban, Natural
Emphasis is placed on maintaining the existing structures and elements of Burnet Woods; while enhancing the natural feel with modern, urban and natural materials. An improvement to the play-ground area is included in this emphasis on enhancing the existing structures with natural elements.
A trellis covered walkway, consisting of concrete and wood materials , will span
from the Band stand to the Restaurant and Plaza. This maintains the park atmosphere
from parking to the restaurant.

Using modern and organic shapes and urban materials for park furniture and surfaces will help maintain the modern, urban and natural atmosphere of Burnet Woods.
Existing Playground is bare and uninviting. Playscape improvements will add to the natural feel and make the existing underutilized playground more inviting.
