Dear Parents,
Staffing News
While final staffing for 2016 is still to be finalised, I can confirm Miss
Erin Flynn has accepted a position at Holy Spirit Primary School,
Bray Park. Erin has been a valued teacher during her three years at St
Patrick’s and we wish her every success as she moves to Brisbane to be
closer to family.
In 2016, we welcome Miss Adele Nugara to the teaching staff at
St Patrick’s. Adele visited our school a couple of weeks ago and is very
excited to be joining St Patrick’s next year. Final allocations of which
teachers are teaching what classes is still to be finalised.
Swimming
A reminder to parents that our swimming program has begun. It is compulsory for all students to
participate in the swimming lessons each day during the two week block. Students will walk down to the
Nanango Aquatic Centre, and qualified instructors will teach the lessons. The cost of the program is
included in the general purpose levy of our school fees.
Christmas Concert
I am pleased to announce St Patrick’s will be holding a Christmas Concert on Monday November 30.
The concert will be led by a visiting music teacher Mr Shane Parry, who will work with all classes to
prepare songs for the concert.
A free sausage sizzle will start at 5:00pm for all families to enjoy, followed by the concert which will
begin at 6:00pm. We look forward to all families attending the evening to join in the festive spirit and see
their children perform their songs.
Prepare for Prep
This Friday we will again be holding our Prepare for Prep sessions. The program is designed for all
children attending Prep in 2016. The session begins at 9:00am and concludes at 10:30am.
If you know of any families looking to enrol their child at St Patrick’s in 2016, could you please advise
them to contact the office asap.
Departing Families
If you are looking to leave St Patrick’s at the end of the year could you please ensure you contact the
office this week. We are currently trying to finalise enrolments for 2016 and need to be aware of any
changes before the end of the year.
Have a great week,
Matt

APRE REFLECTIONS AND REVELATIONS
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Wow, I can’t believe it’s Week 7 in Term 4! This is always a very busy time of year and this year is
proving to be no different. Let us be mindful of our relationships with each other as we enter into our
final weeks of school for 2015. Keep calm, stay positive and keep smiling.
Remembrance Day
Last week we fell silent for Remembrance Day. At the
11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we pause to
remember and honour those who have died or suffered
in all wars and armed conflicts.
This year is the 97th anniversary of the Armistice which
ended the First World War (1914–18).
Thank you to Mrs Gerrard for organising our ceremony
to mark this special occasion and thank you to the chil-
dren for the respect you displayed.
Our school leaders were fortunate to participate in the
Nanango Remembrance Day Service held at the town
Monument.
Thank you to Kai Wilson and Davina Whitfield for laying a wreath on behalf of St Patrick’s and also
a thank you to Reggie Jenner and Mikayla Wilson for reading a passage of Flanders Fields.
Dear Lord,
We pray for those brave people who have laid down their
lives to defend our freedom.
We gratefully remember their courage and their sacrifice.
May we have the grace to live in a spirit of justice, of
generosity, and of peace;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, One God, for ever and
ever. Amen
Class Mass
Last Thursday, 12th November, LG4 led us in mass. Thank you to the children and Miss Flynn for
preparing this mass. We welcome back Fr Nigel from holidays and enjoyed celebrating the Eucharist
with him once again.
World Kindness Day
Friday 13th was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the love and care we have for each other in our
St Patrick’s community through World Kindness Day. It is a day that encourages individuals to
overlook boundaries, race and religion. Did you know that according to
modern psychology, showing kindness to others actually increases our
own happiness in a profound way!
The World Kindness Day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness
Movement. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan,
Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. Let’s join the global
community and go out of our way to show someone we know, a simple act
of kindness.
Have a great fortnight,
Jen Cran

What’s happening at St Pat’s . . .
LG2 have been experimenting with
poems. These acrostic poems show us how won-
derful our students are. One student decided to
put for the letter ‘l’, lazy. He assured me this was
because he just loves to play on his X-box all
day. . .
LG1 This week during Buddy time, our big and little buddies were
challenged to work together to create a machine. The buddies were all given a
bag of materials, and asked to make a machine to launch a pom pom as far as
they could. We had some excellent ideas and creations!
LG4 have been learning about
probability through the use of dices.
We have been converting our data into
a variety of graphs such as bar graphs
and dot plots . . .
