State Tested Nursing Assistant & Patient Care Assistant
SCHEDULE
State Tested Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Assistant programs are offered at two locations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) program is 2 weeks, with 2 clinical days from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Patient Care Assistant (PCA) program is 1 week, with 1 clinical day (if available)
5 WK PLUS Program State Tested Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant is offered only at the OhioMeansJobs location.

Where do I start?• Required attendance at an HPA information
session (11 a.m. on most Tuesdays). Call to reserve a spot.
• Visit the Health Professions Academy (HPA) office or download an admission packet at greatoaks.com/hpa.
Required documents for all programs:• FBI/BCI & I background check• WorkKeys assessment• “2 step” TB test• Physical form• Social Security card• Copy of high school diploma or GED
Additional PCA requirement: • STNA certificate or Nurse Aide Registry card• Flu vaccination (during fall/winter months)• Immunization record
All documentation and payment for the course must be submitted to the HPA
office at OhioMeansJobs before being placed in a class.

Begin with State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) training:• Learn basic caregiving skills• Two days of clinical training at a long-term
care facility under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Earn a certificate of completion from Great Oaks and be eligible for the state test
• Pass the state test, be placed on the Nurse Aide Registry and be eligible for employment in long-term care, hospice, etc.
After completing STNA training, continue with Patient Care Assistant (PCA) training:• Learn how to provide acute medical and
surgical care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• One day of clinical time, if available• PCA certification is required by many area
hospitals
Or, combine both in the 5 WK PLUS Program State Tested Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant:• Two weeks of employability skills training• Focused training on soft skills recommended
by area employers• Meet area healthcare employers and learn
about career opportunities• Placement and career coaching services for one
year
Learn to work in a healthcare setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse
