Styrofoam printing - Step by step
Materials
• Styrofoam
• 4B pencil or ball point pen
• Water based printing ink or paint
• Roller (foam roller)
• Spoon
• A4 Cartridge paper.
Method
Step 1
Using the design you created for your logo, produce a block or printing plate by carefully pressing the lines and areas into the soft foam surface. Use a 4B pencil or ball point pen.
Step 2
Ink the surface with water based printing ink or paint with a foam roller.
Carefully lay a piece of paper over the inked surface and rub all over with a hard roller (if available), back of the spoon or the palm of your hand.
Step 3
Peel off paper slowly to reveal the print.
Repeat the inking and rubbing to create as many prints as desired. You can add additional line work, print in a variety of colours and (or) on various coloured papers.
Alternatively you can hand colour prints using coloured pencils, markers, oil pastels or food dye.
Step 4
Wash the block under with water and clean the surface and line work with a soft brush.
