Notes
Throughout the course, beginners will be able to read and write the Korean language and understand basic
daily dialogue. Intermediates (or advanced students) will be able to better understand intermediate words and
phrases, and expand their knowledge to academic context.
The Asian Business course provides international students with a detailed overview of the economic, political,
and social issues facing Korea and other Asian countries in the region. In particular the course details a range
of topics such as an examination of: The Asia Economy, North East Asian Trade and FTAs, Korean Pop Culture
and Business, Korea R&D Facilities, Cross-cultural Communication Skills, Sustainable Development Practices in
Asia, New Management Initiatives, and Firm Strategies in Global Market Places.
· The basic properties of human language and the basics of English linguistics
· The socio-linguistic aspects of communication and cross-linguistic perspectives
· Verbal-nonverbal communication, gender-differences/regional differences and dialectology
· The diversity of Englishes, world Englishes, and history of English in a culturl aspects
· Media-oriented and flipped-learning based course design
Through the course, students will be able to explain the basic concepts of intercultural communication and
will be better able to facilitate communication between Koreans and members of other cultures in a variety of
settings. Special consideration will be given to the areas of health and business management. Students will
have the opportunity to work with others on group presentations as well as pursue their own areas of interest
in individual assignments.
The course will provide basic concepts of biotechnology used in the agricultural industries in Korea. Main
objectives of this course are: 1. Enhancing the understanding of animal and plant biology through presentations
on newly developed techniques such as animal cloning and transgenic plant production. 2. Providing students
with experience in animal & crop production and control of pests & diseases, along with field trips to related
industries and agricultural fields. 3. Introduction to Korean biotechnology production and bio-safety through
classroom, laboratory and field trip experiences.

Program Overview Global Scholarship Program (GSP) GSP offers valuable opportunities for international students to have a better understanding of the Korean language and social customs through academic lectures. It is an ideal program for those who would like to broaden their perspective in Korean culture and life style. Benefits are exemptions from tuition fees and on-campus dormitory fees with a special stipend.
Internship Program (IP) IP is for students from English speaking countries who want their career in an international relations field. Students will be working in the Office of International Affairs, CNU for about 5 months. Benefits are exemptions from tuition fees, free Intensive Korean language, and monthly stipend. Regular Exchange Student Program As an initiative to foster globalization efforts, CNU offers diverse forms of exchange programs. This program is contingent on the reciprocal agreement between the two schools. Benefits are exemptions from tuition fees, and free intensive Korean language class.
Summer Session for International Students (SSIS) SSIS is a short term program for international students looking for opportunities to have academic courses and cultural activities. The primary purpose of SSIS is to offer academic credit-bearing courses: Korean Language and an English elective course. In addition, SSIS offers a variety of cultural activities/field trips throughout the summer session. Globally Remarkable Academic Success Program (GRASP) Winter for International Learners & Leaders (WILL) GRASP and WILL are short term programs designed for international students who would like to learn Korean language and experience Korean culture at first hand. In addition, students will have opportunities to visit several research institutes in Daedeok Science Town.
