INTrODuCTION
Homoeopathyisaholisticandindividualizingsystemofalternativemedicine.
It is subtle in itsnaturedue to thedilutionandpotentizationofnatural substances, which are given asmedicines.Hence, it isdifficult toquantify it and it canbequantifiedonlyby its effect.LikeHomeopathy, theMindisalsoasubtleaspectofourexistence, which can be quantified only by its functions of perception, emotions and intellect (sensations, feelings and thoughts). Thetwotopicsofdiscussioninthisbook,Homoeopathy and Psychiatry, aresimilarinnature,yetmanypractitionersofhomoeopathyfindpsychiatriccasesthemostdifficulttotreat.Thisbookaimstode-mystifythemysterysurroundingthetreatmentofPsychiatriccaseswithHomoeopathy.

It is just that the symptomsmanifestthemselvesonthepsychologicallevel.Theapparentillnesscanbeeither‘Somatic’or‘Psychological’dependingonthelevelatwhichtheinnerrealitychoosestoexpressitself.
InHomeopathy, webelievethatthemindandthebodyareaffectedatthesametime.Webelievethattheproblemisnotinthemindorbody, but in thevital force, which is at adeeper level. Since
thedisturbances in thevital forceaffectboththemindandbodyat the same time, the focus of the treatment should be to curenot just thebodilyormentalexpressionsof thisdisturbance, butalso somethingdeeper; thedisturbance in the vital force itself. If thevital force isprimarilydisturbed, weneed tounderstandwhythisdisturbancechoosestoexpress itselfphysically insomeindividualsandpsychologicallyinothers.Thiswillbecomeclear, asweunderstandthePersonal Evolution Model (PEM) inadeeperway. The concepts to bediscussed in this book canbe appliedeffectivelynotonlyinpsychiatriccasesbutalsoinpatientssufferingwithsomaticcomplaints.
In the healthy condition ofman, the spiritual vital force(autocracy), the dynamis that animates thematerial body(organism), ruleswith unbounded sway, and retains alltheparts of the organism in admirable, harmonious, vitaloperation,asregardsbothsensationsandfunctions,sothatourindwelling,reason-giftedmindcanfreelyemploythisliving,healthyinstrumentforthehigher purposeofourexistence.

Forthis,IhavetakenmanyoftheobservationsofPsychoanalystsandDevelopmentalPsychologistslikeFreud,EriksonandCarlJungandincorporated them in thedevelopmentof thisPersonal Evolution Model (PEM).
ThefourElements(Water,Earth,Air,Fire)havebeenwellacceptedasthebasicconstituentsofeverythinginnature.Itiswellknownthat theseElements, invarious combinations, producedifferent, specificpersonalitytraits.TheincorporationoftheunderstandingoftheseBasic Elementsandtheircorrespondencewithdevelopment hasbeenelucidatedfurtherinthebook.
Jan Scholten andRajan Sankaran haveworked extensively ontheMineralKingdom. Their brilliantwork has thrownmuchlight inunderstanding the rowsof thePeriodicTable from thedevelopmentalperspective.Asimilarunderstandingwasneededforthe18columnsofthePeriodicTable,whichhasbeenelucidatedinthisbook.Theyarenothingbut18differentwaysofcopingwiththespecificissuesofeachrow.Thesetoocanbeunderstoodfromthedevelopmentalperspective.

I have developed a new chart for understanding theAnimalKingdom.Animals can beunderstood from theperspective ofHabitat, Survival strategy, Elements andEvolution. The entireclassificationofanimalsintotheVertebratesandtheInvertebratesand furtherdivisionof animals into theAquatic,Terrestrial andAerial, basedonevolutionaryanddevelopmentalprincipleshas

In totality, a new working model in Psychiatry has beencreated to understand various Psychiatric illnesses. This bookbridges seamlessly, the ideas of Sankaran, Scholten,Yakir andother contemporaries, with a common understanding, a trueintegration.
