TheIP26Aantibodyrecognizesamonomorphicdeterminantofthehumana/bchainoftheTcRcomplex.

InthecontextofhostHLAmolecules,humanTcellsrecognizeforeignantigensthroughtheT-cell receptor(TcR). TheTcRsaremolecularcomplexescomprisedof twounits:arecognitionunit,composedofeithera-borγ-δheterodimer(presentonthecellsurfaceinamutuallyexclusivemanner)andatransducingunitreferredtoastheCD3complex.Thiscomplexwhichiscommmontoa-bandγ-δheterodimers,triggerstheTcellwhentherecognitionunitisoccupiedbytheantigen.Therecognitionunit’sfunctionistorecognizeany possible foreign antigen; the diversity necessary for this function is generated bysomaticrecombinationoftheTcRgenes.TherearefourTcRgeneloci(a, b, γandδ).EachiscomposedofseveralV(forvariable)segments,codingforabout90aminoacids,veryshortD(fordiversity)segmentsforaandδlocionly,andshortJ(forjoining)segmentsofapproximately15aminoacidsandoneortwoC(forconstant)segments.
