Immersion Model
Teacher Mentor TM • Receive 100 Hours of PD during the grant cycle (40 hours of which are content
focused) • Must attend minimum of 40 hours of PD during Summer 2015 • Receive resources aligned to PD
Cadre Member CM • Receive 12 hours of mentoring/training from their TM or attend training at
Region 13. • Immersion CMs will need an additional 12 hours of mentoring/training from their
TM or attend training at Region 13. • These cannot be online hours.
Benefits to School
• Free PD at ESC 13 • Some substitute fees paid for TMs (likely 6) • Extra day of substitute for immersion CM
(likely 2) • Free instructional materials tied to
professional development
School/District Responsibilities • Recruit TMs and CMs • Assist TM with CM mentoring/training by
providing time as needed • Provide “difference” if substitute costs are
more than allotted by TRC. • Assist with Data Collection for TMs and
Campus level data • Allow TMs and CMs to attend PD as needed
Benefits to Teacher Mentors
• PD that is research based and TEKS aligned • Leadership experience • Network of fellow teachers • iPad or stipend • Opportunity to have registration paid to
content conferences
Teacher Mentor Responsibilities
• Attend 100 hours of PD between 05/01/2015-07/31/2016 (15 months)
• Mentor/train CMs for a minimum of 12/24 hours per CM
• Attend summer institute in 2015 • Take Pre-test (Spring 2015) and Post-test (Summer 2016)
over teacher content knowledge and efficacy at Region 13
• Submit record of mentoring/training • Provide STAAR data as required
Professional Development
• 1 Week Summer Institute – Math
• Algebra I July 20-24 • 6th Grade Math July 27-31
– Science • Biology July 20-24 • MS July 13-17
• Required training dates decided by Feb 1 • Coaching/Mentoring Training • Registration for CAST/NSTA or CAMT

• Project Share courses with ties to our focus will be options
• TMs participate in the online module at their own pace
• Face-to-face, campus based follow-up and discussion about the information and strategies with CMs
Timeline
• Thursday February 5, 2015 -District and campus applications (including district letter of support) due
• Spring-Identify TMs; Create PD plan. • May 1, 2015-Grant begins • May 2015 -Kickoff Meeting, Pre-tests, Commitment
Letters from TMs and Principals, UTEID • Summer – Summer institute – minimum 40 hours of PD • September 2015-CM Data forms due • May 2016- STAAR data, Post-test due • July 31, 2016 – All grant activities completed
