The Exalted Ruler’s Message I wanted to wait until after attending the Vermont State
Elks Convention at Jay Peak Resort May 15-17th to write
this message. My wife Sally and myself attended this event
with Fred & Beth Dusablon as well as Randy & Marcia
Corey.
Fred Dusablon was installed as the Vermont State Elks
president for the fiscal year 2015-2016. His team of
officers for his year will be Randy Corey, Moe Decelles,
Bob Brown and Mary Paule Hill. They will visit every lodge in this state.
On May 10th we had a great turn out for Mother’s Day
brunch. We had over 400 people turn out for this event. I
would like to thank our Chef Tim O’Conner and our
events coordinator Lynn Sayyeau for their effort. They could not have done this without
the help that we had. Kitchen help Zak, Chris Bissonette, Nate, David Smail. Buffet line
and dining room Doc Murray, Mike Devine, Gail Whitehouse, Barry Deliduka, Beth &
Fred Dusablon, Mike Evarts, Jeanne Welch. Checkin Lynn Sayyeau and Sally Blair.
Photos Wayne LaBonte and Bar stewards Natalie and Jason. A special thank you to Bill
Weatherbee for the equipment that he let us use for Mother’s Day brunch. This enabled
us to keep the food hot. The weekend of April 16-19th, 2015 was the Elks National Hoop Shoot in
Springfield, MA. Representing Burlington #916 was Jacobi Lafferty in the 8-9 year old
boys. Jacobi placed 4th place for his age group. He is already getting ready for next year.
A big thank you goes out to Brian and Angie Norris for taking this event on for our
Lodge.
The 9th of May was Kids Day in Burlington. I attended this with Sally down on the
waterfront. We gave out Drug Awareness items as well as candy.
May 2nd was the walk thru at Silver Towers. We need help for the cleanup and
painting on June 6th and 7th. We need to do this before camp opens for the campers.
Friday nights are still going strong. Come out and join us for a dinner or volunteer.
We are offering a Pub Menu on Tuesday for the drawings. Thanks again to the volunteers but we can always use more help.
With the Greatest Respect,
Wes Blair
