2013 Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival
Any ALC female full-time female student who is interested in applying to repre-sent the College in the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival Queen Pageant in
Pineville on May 23-26 can pick up an application in DSC 205, Ms. Stumbo’s Of-fice. Requirements established by the Pageant Board are as follows: representa-
tives must be single, having never been married or pregnant. Representatives are judged on poise, personality and overall appearance. There is no swimsuit or talent competition. The individual chosen as the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival Queen will receive a $3000 scholarship. The deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, February 5th. ALC’s representative will be chosen
by a committee after an interview process.

ALC Student Government Sponsors Kentucky Blood Center Blood Drive
The Student Government Association is sponsoring the first blood drive for the Spring Semester on Tuesday, February
5th from 9:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m. in Cushing Hall. Please plan on stopping by to donate. One donation can save as many as
three adult lives or six children’s lives. Every donor will re-ceive a free tee shirt along with the satisfaction of helping
others.

ALC EDUCATION MAJORS Applications are Now Being Accepted for the
2013-2014 Student Teacher Award Education majors who plan to student teach during the 2013-2014 Academic Year—that is either the Fall 2013 Semester or the Spring 2014 Semester—have an op-portunity to apply for a Student Teacher Award which is sponsored by members of
the Alice Lloyd College Class of 1982. This is a $250.00 Cash Award which is intended to help with personal ex-
penses (travel, professional clothing, supplies, etc.) which will be incurred during the recipient’s semester of student teaching.

15, 2013, and the recipient of the Alumni Relations.

Minutes for January 24, 2013 Absent Members – Brad Baker, Kiana Hall, Tarnois Jones, Emmanuel Joseph, Tianna Po, David Walker Office Hours – Representatives hours have been established and will be posted soon. Hot Drinks – The hot drinks bar will be returning outside of the SGA office (2nd floor
DSC) within the following week. Group Picture – SGA members are to meet in the conference room at 12:30 February
5th in professional dress for a yearbook picture. Photo will be taken DSC Conference Room.
Blood Drive – A blood drive will be taking place Tuesday February 5th throughout the day. Set up is at 8 and clean-up will be 3-4. Times to work will be posted in the office.
February 12th – SGA will be making/delivering Valentines for the local nursing home. Proposals – The following are proposals waiting to be written and signed:
●Safety Council Meeting as convocation, possibly required. This meeting would raise awareness of procedures to be taken in situa-tions of danger.
●An addition another treadmill to the weight room, as well as the replacement/repair of a current machine.
March Events – On the 14th there will be a St. Patrick’s Day dance as well as Easter baskets for the nursing home on the 28th.
April Event – All-campus cookout to be determined depending on weather.
