Middle School Students Participate in All-City Band and Choir Concerts Eight Holy Rosary students from grades 6 – 8 participated in the 53rd All City Band Festival held on
March 14. This year’s guest conductor was Dr. Sigurd Johnson from North Dakota State University.
Our students practiced with the Detroit Lakes Middle School bands and then performed with them
for the concert. At the conclusion of the concert, all of the bands combined to perform three pieces.
It was a wonderful night of music making. Holy Rosary would like to thank Paul Dierkhising from the
DLMS for welcoming our students to participate with his. Eight Holy Rosary Middle School students
took part in the 43rd annual All City Choir Festival. Dr. Axel Theimer from the College of St. Benedict
and St. John’s University was this year’s guest conductor. Holy Rosary students traveled to the De-
troit Lakes Middle School to rehearse with the choirs there and then performed with them for the
concert on March 28th . After each choir performed two selections, all of the choirs combined to
form one large ensemble to sing three final numbers. Holy Rosary would like to thank the DLMS choir
director, Laura Schmitz Broderius for welcoming our students and letting them participate with hers.
Thank you, parents for encouraging and supporting great “arts” opportunities for your children. Our
students did a great job representing Holy Rosary School. They were well-mannered young people and
I am extremely proud of them! Terri Hutchinson
