OMG!

How did Key Club get its name?

In 1925, California State Commissioner of Schools

Albert C. Olney and vocational education teacher

Frank C. Vincent worked to establish the first Key Club

at Sacramento High School in California. This club was

comprised of the key boys in the school, willing to

serve the school in any way possible and to create

better school spirit. Thus, the club was dubbed Key

Club.

KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL’S

YOF (Youth Opportunities Fund)

KEY FACTS KEY FACTS

The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for

Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International

Foundation.

This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club

members serve the world by providing grants for service

opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for

higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established

through a portion of your Key Club International dues and

through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.

FRANKLIN’S JAPAN RELIEF FUNDRAISER

Our Japan Fundraiser consisted of selling shirts to raise

awareness of the natural disaster that occurred on March 11,

2011. We raised a little over two hundred dollars, and we are in

the process of donating the money to Mercy Corps so that

they can send the money over to Japan to aid the people

who are in need of help. It was a sudden project that we, the

Franklin Key Club officers, decided to take on.

It was all for a great cause, and we are very glad that we took

some action to contribute to Japan. Our prayers go out to

Japan and other countries that are suffering from natural

disasters and other tragic world events. Our prayers go out to

Japan and other countries that are suffering from natural

disasters and other tragic world events.

Club President, the Key Club of Franklin High School

Club President Christina Chac (Key Club of Franklin High School)

Age: 17

Favorite food: Italian

Favorite place in the world:

Deer Park Monastery (Escondido, California)

Funniest thing about her: I can be the most gullible person ever

First thing that comes to mind when someone says “Key

Club”: An awesome organization to be apart!

Major life goal: To make something of myself and be able to take care of my parents in the near future, because raising an odd child like myself isn't easy.

The greatest thing you’ve learnt in Key Club: I’ve learnt that you can have fun while volunteering and providing service for others. You can also meet pretty darn amazing people along the way.

Let’s save some lives! (Project Ideas) Book Drive! Kids love pretty and colorful books.

Trauma Dolls! These dolls are known as comfort dolls for

kids.

Coloring Books! You can either make them, or purchase

them for hospitals.

Blankets! Every kid needs to be warm. Blankets would

make such a great addition to the lives of these kids. **For help or more info, please contact Lieutenant Governor Giovanni**

Hey there!

This is a new year in the world of Key Club, and I’m

excited to see change take place! I’ve had the

opportunity to see how much our division has changed

over this short summer, and I’m expecting to see a

entirely new division at the end of my term. I said to

one of our Club Presidents that our division is like a

garden, because our clubs are like flowers.

With a garden, you can’t water it this week and

forget about it the next. You need to be consistent.

Taking out weeds, fixing flower pots, and landscaping

isn’t easy when you’re dealing with a garden that’s

been weak for a long while. Proactive leaders are what

our clubs need, and that’s what I’m working to instill. Key

Clubbers, you have the opportunity to give so much to the

world, never let your age limit you. You may not be able

. to change the entire world, but you can change lives.
