Dear Parents and Friends,
WOW! Term 1 has flown by. We have had a very busy term with all classrooms settled and achiev-
ing great things.
Last Thursday the grade 5 students completed a practice NAPLAN test. This year we are completing
NAPLAN Online, this is a new format and fingers crossed it all works on the day! NAPLAN will be
from 14th
– 24th
May, with a two week window to complete all tests online. If you have any ques-
tions about your grade 3 or 5 child completing NAPLAN, please see either myself or Mario Anania.
All children returned happy and excited on Friday after watching ‘Billionaire Boy’ They all had very
positive feedback and thoroughly enjoyed the show. We also welcomed Winton children to Glen-
rowan on Friday, which was a great opportunity for our two schools to mix and play together. We
look forward to more visits in the future.
Don’t forget to get your Easter Raffle tickets!! The raffle will be drawn on Friday at our final assem-
bly commencing at 2:15pm. Children will be dismissed at 2:30pm.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and support over the past 3
weeks. I have enjoyed the opportunity to step into Colin’s shoes, but could not have done it with-
out our amazing staff. Thank-you
I hope everyone has a safe and restful break. We are looking forward to a busy term 2. School re-
turns on Tuesday 23rd
April.
Regards, Karly Duncombe

Billionaire Boy
Last Friday the students went to Wangaratta Performing Art Centre to see the Production of Billionaire
Boy. All students thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Here’s what some students had to say about their favorite part:
Leila—When the toilet paper that his Dad made—made his bottom go purple.
Alannah—When the shop owner came out and was singing a song about how
the toilet paper made his bottom purple.
Braedon—When Bob got wedgie power with his undies. Wedgie Power!
Amelia—When the boy wet his pants.
Michelle—When Grub got a wedgie.
Harry—When the Dad gave BB his homework and dropped it from a helicopter
with lots of cash.
Tyler—When someone pushed his head in the toilet. It was funny.
From the Kitchen
Last week we were again able to use our fantastic pizza oven for all cooking sessions. This was thanks to John
Salafia who lit the oven early in the morning, and John Spencer who did a wonderful job taking charge of
cooking for both classes again. Thankyou to all the fabulous helpers in the kitchen and to Jen who washed
the aprons.
The year 6 and 3-4 classes prepared similar menus. The students made beautiful trays of tasty roasted vege-
tables (white potatoes, sweet potatoes, aubergine and corn), two different styles of bread (herby soda bread
and spring onion scrolls), Dips (Tzatziki and Beetroot), Delicious Apple Crumble and a lovely fresh Lemon and
Passionfruit Barley Water. All recipes were delicious.
The wicking garden beds have been very successful this summer producing an abundance of beautiful fresh
vegetables and herbs for us to pick and use each week. The students just love going out and picking the
foods we need and then preparing, cooking and eating them. We have picked most of the last of the veggies
from the wicking beds in preparation for our gardening day tomorrow.
The students will be removing old plants, topping up the soil with compost and manure and planting seeds
and seedlings for the winter season. We will be planting celery, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale,
silverbeet, parsley, broad beans, peas, leeks, spring onion and garlic.
‘
Thank you to the volunteers who have offered to help the students with the gardening tomorrow, and thank
you to those families who have kindly donated various types of manure. It will be a busy day!
Thank you. Rosalie Thomas
