A success story
1984
In the year 1984, Jesús Salgado travelled to Canada, initiating the movement of sending Spanish students to study in North America through his company 3B. There, he met Marylou Heenan, who later became his Canadian co-founder. Marylou Heenan is owner of The Language Workshop, an educational agency specialized in English Learning programs for young people and adults in Canada during summer.
1986
FIRS STEPS
EVOLUTION
Jesús and Marylou decided to create a new division within The Language Workshop: The Language Workshop- Young People, which, focused on setting up Educational Programs in Canada, now sends 150 Spanish students to Canada. Jesús Salgado acquired 25% of The Language Workshop.
1990 CONSOLIDATION
In 1990 Red Leaf Student Programs INC was created with Jesús Salgado and Marylou Heenan as company shareholders, in a venture not associated with The Language Workshop. Two years later, The Language Workshop became a part of the Global Village Group, currently one of the biggest English Learning companies for adults in Canada.
1994 DEVELOPMENT
On 28th February 1994, Red Leaf Spain was established, with Tax no. B-80826654. It focused on developing programs for young people by providing English classes and stays with Canadian Host Families - a program currently known as English & Homestay. This way, students from all the over the world were able to learn English in Canada, and contributed to developing a market that back then, was still relatively untouched. Red Leaf Spain, just like the sister company Red Leaf Student Programs INC, was shared equally between Jesús and Marylou. The company headquarters were set up in Madrid for Red Leaf Spain and in Newmarket (Ontario) for Red Leaf Canada.
From then on, the educational and innovative philosophy, not just English learning, became a part of the Red Leaf mission, working with different governments nationally, regionally and locally (becoming one of the first companies to offer camps to governments), and with public, private and semi-private schools. Not only this, they began collaborating with different companies and foundations, including the prestigious Amancio Ortega Foundation. They also began setting up English camps in Spain and designed specific teacher training programs.

Our commitment
We believe in the growth of talent, creating opportunities for young people so they can access a highly-competitive, international market by developing their academic and social skills.
EDUCATION MOBILITY MULTICULTURALISM FUTURE COMMITMENT
Our world is constantly evolving, meaning the involvement of our educational agents is more important than ever.
With our International Programs, we hope to create an intelligent citizen, ready to take on the challenges of the future. On completion of their chosen program, they’ll have formed strong, ethical values that will only contribute to and benefit the progression of our society. Throughout our 30 years’ experience, we have developed and reached a level of professional ethics and a social commitment that cannot be rivaled with. This has been made possible thanks to the 75,000 satisfied students and parents, as well as the support we receive from Educational Institutions, who form part of our programs in Canada.
We are also an innovative, avant-garde company - technically and technologically-speaking, meaning that we are able to communicate more efficiently with students, parents and the education community as a whole.

Academic Programs. School year
eudactionalprograms
The 10 month annual Academic Program is the main way of experiencing all the Canadian educational system has to offer. It is a complete educational offering that allows students to immerse themselves in a new way of learning that will change their lives forever. This course is validated by the Spanish Ministry of Education
Academic Programs. School semesterThis program offers the student the chance to study in Canada for one semester: from September to January or February to June. There’s no need to validate this course as long as it lasts less than 50% of the school year.
Trimester Programs. High School IntegrationThe integration program, also known as short term academic or trimester program, lasts from 4 to 15 weeks. Its results are extraordinary in terms of personal rentability as it allows the student to take part in a complete academic experience in a successful educational system such as Cana-da’s, for a period of time best suited to the personal and academic needs of the participant.
Summer Programs. We offer a wide range of programs, from traditional camps to total immersion programs as well as innovative day camp programs, focusing on specific subjects, like for example Photography, Robotics, etc.
Experience Canada. A combined summer and high school program. The student takes part in a summer program, completing it with a short high school stay.
Language Assistants Program A program focusing on improving students’ linguistic skills in both English and French.
Teacher-training Programs. Relying on the innovative CLIL method, with the view to reaching total linguistic English immer-sion in Canada.
Leadership and Volunteering. Programs that develop leadership, collaborative, team-working skills, aiming to help young people when it comes to entering the global market.
