students• Unusual emails

Student Responses to Online
What We Did Right!
• Give students the choice to pick their own course
• Give them this online opportunity, even if they are not your best students
• Offer as many choices as possible• Keep them on schedule
What We Did Wrong!
• Signed up students without asking them or letting them know it was an online course
• Let them go at their own speed (slow)• Paid full bill at the beginning of the year• Slowest computers in the school• NEVER say, “At your own pace”
What to Watch ForPosted by Laura Devaney, 1/4/13 in Featured superintendent’s Center, Online Learning, Professional Development (PD), Superintendent’s Center, Top News
• Reporting Tools/progress monitoring• Availability of teachers to assist struggling
students• Instructors who are well-trained in
delivering online courses• Offering rigorous and engaging curriculum
