Total Defence Day 2018

“The theme for this year’s Total Defence Day is ‘Together We Keep Singapore Strong’. This

year marks the 76th Anniversary of the Fall of Singapore to the Japanese. It was a time of

hardship and suffering for the people of Singapore under the Japanese rule.”

“Junyuan organized a meaningful line-up of

events such as the ‘Syonan-to’ Breakfast (made from tapioca), an SGSecure talk (by Tampines Neighbourhood Police Centre) and training on fire-fighting, basic evacuation techniques and

basic First Aid skills so as to be ready in times of emergency.”

‘Twas the year 1942

Where panic struck and hardships grew

People crying and it was not well

Lives were made into a living hell

The new rulers were mean cold-blooded

Those who sought freedom, soon, beheaded

Aggressors on a killing spree

Oh, what has happened to the land once free?

By Rifqi (3E3)

Made us fear them all

They stood strong and tall

As they watched us fall

Their posters on the wall

By Nadrah Diyanah (3E3)

Faces pressed railings

Ears heard wailings

Young and old were caged

With hearts full of rage

By Cheryl Ng (3E3)

Look out for our special interview with Mr Vaahid!

“It is crucial for our young generation to know what steps to take when facing a crisis or threat. The CCE lesson on TDD

teaches our students to recognise these steps so that they become more confident in their role to defend the country.”

~ Nadiah Khamis (FT/1E2)

“It is an opportunity to help students understand the need to keep out level of preparedness to its optimal, through the

painful lessons learnt in the past.” ~ Teh Li Wah (FT/3T1)

“Being in a uniform group CCA

allows students to pick up essential

life skills and values. Through their

participation in various activities,

students will develop a sense of

ownership & responsibility towards

our country. They will be prepared

to fulfil their roles in nation building

& strive towards becoming useful
