Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
7/31/2019 TRF Project Report on PLC
9/13
A programmable logic controller (PLC) is a digital computerused for automation of electromechanical processes, such as
control of machinery on factory assembly lines, control of
amusement rides, or control of lighting fixtures.
How it works
Programming in PLC
In order to create or change a program, the following items areneeded:
PLC Programming Device Programming Software Connector Cable

Advantages
Cost effective for controlling complex systems. Flexible and can be reapplied to control other systems
quickly and easily. Computational abilities allow more sophisticated control. Trouble shooting aids make programming easier and reduce
downtime.
Reliable components make these likely to operate for yearsbefore failure.
Disadvantages
Too much work required in connecting wires.Difficulty with changes or replacements.Difficulty in finding errors; requiring skillful work force.

More about PLC
A PLC has many "input" terminals, through which it interprets"high" and "low" logical states from sensors and switches.
It also has many output terminals, through which it outputs "high"and "low" signals to power lights, solenoids, contactors, small
motors, and other devices lending themselves to on/off control.

Conclusion:
This project gave me an opportunity to work in an industrial
atmosphere and get involved in technical discussions. It alsohelped me to know different types of electronics components. This
practical knowledge which is necessary for engineering students
was imparted to me. I also got an insight into various Equipments
used in industry and basic concepts of technology.
