Finally, through this policy we affirm our solidarity with colleagues who are affected by HIV

you in your office? Has everyone been trained on PEP? Is the system for accessing
treatment completely confidential ? Is the system clear to everyone ?
So how does the policy work?
Trocaire ....as the employer has responsibilities to Be clear about what the organisation will do in the workplace
with respect to HIV Provide a supportive environment for staff living with HIV and
promote a culture that openly addresses HIV and AIDS Work within the legal framework of each country
Our responsibilities as staff include: Familiarising ourselves with the policy
Availing of information, education and testing opportunities when they are offered
Acting responsibly and minimising risks
Supporting colleagues affected by HIV in any way we can
Making sure it Making sure it happens.....happens..... Managers have overall responsibility for implementation
HIV POs, focal points and HR play a role in supporting managers
In every office it should be clear .... Which manager is responsible? Who will organise induction? Who will organise education & training? To whom staff go to if they want to draw down any
provisions of the policy
Tracking implementation of Tracking implementation of the policythe policy
Each year we will review our progress against the commitments of our policy. We will look at things like:
Have new staff been properly introduced to the HIV workplace policy?
Have all staff received some training on HIV during the year?
Does the office know where PEP can be accessed at short notice?
The review will also invite you to share with others across the organisation anything that has worked well for you in implementing the workplace policy.
Discussion...... Which manager is responsible in your office? Who inducts new staff? Who organises education and training? What do staff do if they want to draw down
provisions of the policy? Who do they approach?
