Dr. and Mrs. Jack Hill and chil­dren of Hartford, Conn., spent the weekend a t the home of Miss Bes­sie Bruce ^ d Mrs. Freink Pronk. They brought Mrs. Alma Van der Meer of Wooster, CHiio, w^o is spending two to three weeks with Miss Bruce. Dr. and Mrs. Hill are missionaries in Cebu, Philip­pine Islands. The Hills, Mrs. Van der Meer and Miss Bruce were missionaries in China and were be­hind the Iron Curtain.

,Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jurgeson and daughter of Skaneateles have been visiting her mother, Mrs. Donald Dickson, for a week. They also spent a few days visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Dickson and daughters in Poughkeepsie.

Miss EZathleen Oles went to Camp Minnetoska, the Girl Scout camp, a t Cooperstown Tuesday for two weeks.' Katiilee^i Redden, Carmen Russell ^ d Betsy Tweedie are there for one week.

Mrs. Macon Smith was a patient a t the MargaretviUe hospital for a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hess of Mohawk spent several days with her sister, Mrs. Earle Woolheater.

Barbecne N et $175The chicken barbecue held last

week was successful and netted the Methodist church budget $175. Many friends from neighboring communities were present, which gives evidence th a t our annual barbecues are weU received. We appreciate their attendance.

Shavertown, Aug. 5The Nathan Bechtels spent the

week at the Sgt. Finkle home. They returned to their AUentown, Pa., home Sunday morning to avoid heavy traffic, They had the REA turn on the power for the summer and, expect to bring SgÍÉ. Finkle, himself, up with them Aug. 11 to spend time here before returning to Hawaii and his ffim- üy. He wiU fly, 'as his car is still on Oahu, whUe he studied in Florida during July. "

Zeke Cunningham and a friend came up to the Cunningham place early Saturday morning to con­tinue work on the buUding. The wiring and ix>wer have been in- staUed and the Shultzes were moving in furniture and plumbing tWs past week.

There was no service a t the Shavertown church Sunday and i t wiU, continue to be closed shop during the rest of August, whUe Rev. Lisi is vacationing.
