USA L1 & L2 VISA CHECKLIST AND PROCESS
STEP 1:Filling up of DS 160 Application details in the Excel sheet(please find below) for Visa
Cell review for each applicant. Separate DS 160 to be filled for each dependent as
well if applying for L2 visa (We strongly recommend to apply for L2 Visa once your
Visa is approved, if you are applying together with L2 please share IBG Headapproval mail).
Once confirmed by the Visa Cell, please fill up the enclosed excel sheet with all your
details and mail it back to Visa Cell for review. Ensure that the details in the BEP letter
and the approved petition do not contradict the details given in the DS 160 application.
STEP 2:Filling up of DS 160 Application details in the Excel sheet for Visa Cell review for each
applicant. Separate DS 160 to be filled for each dependent as well if applying for H4
visa.
Once confirmed by the Visa Cell, please fill up the enclosed excel sheet with all your
details and mail it back to Visa Cell for review. Ensure that the details in the BEP letter
and the approved petition do not contradict the details given in the DS 160 application.
STEP 3:Filling up of Online DS 160 form. Separate DS 160 to be filled for each dependent as
well if applying for L2 visa.
Once confirmed by the Visa Cell on the DS 160excel sheet, start filling up the Online DS
160 form through the link https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ Select a location where
you will be applying for this visa --pls select India, Chennai form the drop down
Start an application.
Guidelines to fill the application are attached for your reference.
STEP 4: Confirmation of DS 160 form online for self and dependent(s) if any
Once confirmed by the Visa Cell, please go ahead and confirm the DS 160 form. At the
end after confirming the online application, please follow the below process.
1. EMAIL CONFIRMATION (Provide your Email ID)
2. Go back & PRINT APPLICATION; else you will not be able retrieve the application
form later.
3. Go back & PRINT CONFIRMATION
When you submit the DS 160 online application, you will receive a confirmation of
application submission with a bar code which is required for scheduling an
appointment. Please forward this Application confirmation sheet with barcodeto the
Visa department (PDF format only) as this is required to schedule your visa interview
with the Consulate.
STEP 5:Creation of your profile in the US Consulate web site

Please create a profile ID(Attached PPT for reference) in the US Consulate website
through the URL: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/index.html?firstTime=No Apply
for a U.S. VisaApply NowNew User.
Please ensure to fill in accurate details as mentioned on your passport as it cannot be
changed at a later date. After creation of profile, a Unique User ID (8 digit number)
would be generated. Provide this UID to visa cell for initiating the visa fee paymentand to proceed in fixing the appointment.
STEP 6:Interview Waiver Questionnaire.
Pls answer Yes/ No to the statements (attached)
STEP 7 : Visa fee payment
Contact Visa Cell for initiating the Visa fee payment process (This process takes 2-3
days for fee receipt activation). Visa Cell would require the below documents of self
and dependent(s) to initiate the Visa Payment.
1. DS 160 confirmation page
2. Profile ID
STEP 8: Scheduling of appointment
After 3 working days, contact visa cell for scheduling the visa Appointment.
STEP 9 : Collection of documents and Visa briefing
Meet the visa cell SPOC 3 days (please confirm the date & time with the Visa Cell)
before your interview date with all the documents as per the folder checklist enclosed
to collect the documents and visa briefing.
NOTE:
1. Visa Cell will hand over the documents only if the associate provides the documents as
per the checklist attached.
