User guide to activate your DAU account with a Username & Password from the Help Desk

Step 1: Go to the DAU login webpage:https://id.dau.edu

HELPFUL TIPS• Recommended browsers: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge• You cannot use your old DAU username to login to your account.
You will receive an error message saying “Unable to sign in”.• Make sure to use the login information provided by the DAU Help
Desk if you are not able to activate your account from the link that should have been sent in the “Welcome to Okta” email.
Step 2: Enter the Username and Password that was provided by the DAU Help Desk
. HELPFUL TIPS• The Help Desk will either send you a
password via email or provide you with a password over the phone.
• The password IS case sensitive• If you receive an error saying “Unable to
sign in”, you’ve either entered the Username or Password incorrectly. The system will not tell you which piece of the information is incorrect.

Step 3: Multifactor Setup
HELPFUL TIPS• Multifactor Authentication: Provides a second layer of
security for users to make sure the individual accessing the account is authorized to do so.
• Do I have to set this up?• Multifactor authentication is required when logging in
with a Username & Password.
• Select “Setup” under any factor listed to proceed.

Step 4: Establish a PasswordReminder: You have to enter the password that was provided
to you from the Help Desk in the “Old password” field.

ALERT – Your session has expired!
• If it takes you a while to setup a multifactor on your account, there is a possibility that your session will expire.
• You will be directed back to the login screen to enter your Username and Password.
• Reminder: You have to enter the temporary password that was provided by the Help Desk.

HELPFUL TIPS• Select a question you’ll be able
to answer. • Don’t like any of the question?
You can create your own! Select “Create your own security question”.
Step 5: Select a “Forgot Password” question

Step 6: Add a Phone NumberNote: If you setup the SMS multifactor as part of Step 3,then this section will not be displayed on the page.
HELPFUL TIPS• Benefits: You can reset your password
and/or unlock your own account.
• After you enter your mobile #, push the “Send Code” button.
• You should receive the code via text message in less than a minute, however, it may vary based on your mobile provider.
Enter the phone number you’ll use to receive codes via text message, then click Send Code to verify that it works. Check your phone for the passcode and enter it
below. Your message should arrive in less than a minute.
Add a phone number for resetting your password or unlocking your account using SMS (optional).Okta can send you a text message with a recovery code. This feature is useful when you don’t have access to your email.

Step 6 (continued): Add a phone numberI received my code, but now I’m getting an
error!
HELPFUL TIPS
• Make sure you are entering the code from your phone correctly.
• Remember, if you selected “Send again”, the first code you received may be invalid. Check to see if you received another message.
• We recommend you delete all codes after they have been successfully used to help avoid confusion in the future.
HELPFUL TIPS• Make sure you entered your mobile
number correctly. • If your number is correct, we recommend
waiting at least 1 more minute before selecting the “Send again” link.
• Why? Because if the system was delayed, then two codes will be on the way and the first code will not be valid when you enter it.

Step 6 (continued): Add a Phone Number.
HELPFUL TIPS• Once the code has been accepted,
you will receive a message that says “Phone number successfully verified!”
• Select the “Done” button to proceed.

Steps 7 & 8: Select a Security Image & “Create My Account”.
HELPFUL TIPS• A check mark will be placed in the box
of the security image you select.• Click the button at the bottom that
says “Create My Account”.
Check a picture to choose a security image and then select“Create My Account”.
Your security image gives you additional assurance that you are logging into Okta, and not a fraudulent website.

Step 9: Select “Got it!”

Step 10: YOU’RE DONE!!!!
Your dashboard will display the DAU resources you've
been granted access to. Select the applicable tile to proceed.
