• Enhancing international educational experiences for all Vanderbilt students (undergraduate, graduate & professional)

• Facilitating greater international research and teaching opportunities for faculty across disciplines

• Improving Vanderbilt’s reputation abroad

• Creation of ACIA (Advisory Council for International Affairs) 2005

• Establishment of Vanderbilt International Office (VIO) 2006

• Increase the number of international students and faculty 2006-present

• Partners are chosen based on their research prominence, disciplinary breadth and strategic location

• Long-term, wide-ranging institutional relationships that are focused on research

VIO Seed Grants

• Laying the foundation for sustainable research partnerships

• Full-time faculty, graduate/professional students, and staff may apply

• Exploratory—up to $4,000 for a visit of 10 days or less

• Exchange—up to $15,000 in matching funds for research collaborations that include the mobility of faculty and students
