Until recently, I was working as a Software Product ManagerFor Bigben Interactive – LilleThat’s a video game publisher
That was a unique opportunity of mixing fun and workI was playing video gamesAnd not only playingI was actually producing them
And had to do business as wellBy dealing partnerships with leading Asian distributorsSuch a Papaya, for distributing games for Android in China
Why did I leave ?
I want to fulfill my dreamsAnd that means working in AsiaMore specifically in a Chinese-speaking countryLike China, Taiwan or Singapore, for example

First as a SMB Marketing AssistantThat was an internshipActually, it was part of a sandwich courseThe rhythm was really great: 2 weeks working for Microsoft, then going back to school for one week
I had to manage our day-to-day campaignsMy first mission was to manage a cash-back campaign aimed at medium businessesI was even part of the Windows 7 launch team
And my biggest project was the Ingram ShowcaseThat’s the biggest reseller-aimed IT event in FranceMy role was to coordinate all the team working on this projectAnd we did great!! Our booth was elected second best booth of all the fair
Then as a Licensing Sales SpecialistI’m now an expert on Microsoft LicensingAnd when you know how complicated it is, that’s an achievementI even obtained an official certification
It is a sales assistant jobEnsuring the Account Manager were selling the right contractsAnd guaranteeing a maximum attach rate for our key products
And an international partIt was called “International Allocation Management”Basically, I had to negotiate with Microsoft subsidiaries, to ensure the right downstream coverageIt was only aimed at specific, global (worldwide) contracts.
That was my very first job
And finally as a Community ManagerBut not as you might thinkI was not on Facebook 24/7Nor was I moderating forums and newsgroups
It was a “people” jobI had to form friendly-yet-professional bondsWith both people who loved and hated usIn order to broadcast our messagesAnd together tell a compelling story
I learnt the art of speakingI was the voice of Microsoft during tech eventsThe biggest of those events was the Microsoft TechDays (17 000 attendees)

But before that, I did an internshipIn an international NGOPlan International is a fostering NGOIt helps children all around the third world
I worked in webmarketingI launched two websites for the associationI implemented the subscribers’ newsletterI even built their whole presence on Facebook
I discovered adwordsWe were offered a complimentary budgetI had to optimize our keywords bidding
OK, so I have some experience, but did I work well ?
They praise me better than I do
My academic education?That’s quite a long story…
After my baccalauréat, I spent two yearslearning to develop business applications
Then I went off to study Chinese.For two whole years.Just because I wanted to.
After that, I took the very competitiveexam for entering Business Schools
And was accepted inGrenoble Ecole de Management
That’s the 6th best French Business School!!
I stayed there 3 years
Learning the basicsFull time at school for the first yearLearning the basics in economy, law, finance…
In an exchange programThe first semester in ChinaI worked as a translator for the 2008 OlympicsAnd the second semester back in Grenoble
And a sandwich course1 week every 3 weeks at schoolThe rest of the time at Microsoft
