WALKING THE DOG Presents
In collaboration with
BARON VON DING DONG
A film by Michael Palmaers
PERSKIT
LOGLINE
A mysterious experiment inspired by Magritte's painting “ The Empire of Light”.
SYNOPSIS
The story is set in an abandoned zoo. The zoo itself is inspired by the
Antwerp Zoo in the 19th century and is covered in a mysterious environment reminding of René Magritte’s painting: 'The Empire of Light'.
Under a radiating sunny sky, the landscape is covered in darkness.
The opportunistic director of the abandoned zoo instructs a doctor to do some medical experiments on a gorilla, one of the few animals left in the
zoo. If the experiment turns out well, the zoo could again become the great attraction it once was.
The gorilla has been artificially inseminated and is therefore carefully observed by a camera during the pregnancy. The cage is lit -day and night-
like a prison. The guardian of the gorilla is a devoted man. Just like the spectators, he doesn’t know this forced pregnancy with NURU is part of a
dark experiment.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER Walking The Dog is an animation studio based in the centre of Brussels created by the two producers Anton Roebben and Eric Goossens in 1996. After their successful career in the companies Little Big One and Trix they decided to set up their own company to concentrate more on the international artistically interesting animated projects. The first project they worked on was the Oscar nominated animation film “The Triplets of Belleville” from the French director Sylvain Chomet. Walking The Dog was asked to supervise and produce a large part of the computer generated sequences in this film. From both Brussels and Montréal Walking The Dog organised with their team of animators the production of almost the entire CGI images in this movie. After this successful collaboration Walking The Dog continued their collaboration ship with the Belgian co producer on “The Triplets of Belleville” ,Vivi Film on a new classical animation film called “Brendan and the Secret of Kell’s” from the Irish director Tomm Moore. For this film, a co production between Les Armateurs (FR), Cartoon Saloon (IR) and Vivi Film (B), Walking The Dog was producing in their animation studio 20 min of animation (mix of classical animation and 3D effects). Walking The Dog was in 2007-2008 also co-producing the animated television serie “Kika & Bob”(26x13’) with the Low Sky Film (NL) and DFJ (B). This serie is directed by both Colette Bothof and Vincent Bal. For the moment WTD is, in coproduction with Submarine (NL) and Low Sky Film (NL), preparing the second serie of also (26x13’). Recently WTD delivered all the 3D animated hamster sequences on the feature movie “Firmin” from the Belgian director Dominique Deruddere. After the production of the short length animation film “Dji Veu Vou Volti” from the well-known Belgian director Benoit Feroumont (already selected by almost 45 festivals and obtained several national and international prizes) Walking The Dog is developing the first animated feature film “Macrâles” from this talented director in co-production with La Parti Production(B).
