We are going to make a small embroidery containing a hole. The hole will be a circle, a rectangle or an irregular hole.
1. We will either put a piece of fabric/recycled embroidery behind the hole and embroider the surround
Or
2. Sew threads across the hole and weave as part of embroidery
Or
Figure 1 fabric with hole
Figure 4 loosely woven web over hole with spider and running stitch
Figure 5 wrapped threads to make tree trunks and the leaves and ground cover embroidered
Figure 6 Japanese fabric behind hole and then surround embroidered

3. Sew threads across the rectangle and wrap groups of threads to make a tree trunk. Then embroider leaves and ground plants.
Requirements
Fabric with a hole [to be provided]
Fabric to go behind hole – can be patterned, lacy, plain, glittery – your choice
[I will bring an assortment of fabrics if you don’t have your own]
Embroidery hoop
Threads for your colour scheme
Sewing kit
Fabric pencil and ruler
Piece of recycled hand embroidery if you want to place it behind hole
Any stump work insects/bird you might want to include in the embroidery
Circles/pieces of felt if you are going to embroider the circle pattern
Beads and anything you think might be useful
