JKREGP were approved.DIC, KVIB Kishtwar sub-mitted the loan proposalswhich included steel fabri-cation, furniture, prepara-tion of Readymade gar-ments, welding, carpentry,electronics & repair, cuttingand tailoring, automobiles,readymade garments etc.

The committee screenedand scrutinised 133 casesout of which 99 were select-ed for credit linkagethrough financial institu-tions after thorough analy-sis of viability of proposedprojects and the entrepre-

neurial skills of the appli-cants. The units are expect-ed to generate employmentopportunities for around300 souls.

STATE TIMES NEWSREASI: National MedicinalPlants Board, Ministry ofAyush, Govt. of India in col-laboration with KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasiof Sher-e-KashmirUniversity of AgriculturalSciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organ-ised awareness-cum- trainingprogramme on medicinalplants here at Sirah village ofPainthal block in Reasi disttwhich was enthusiasticallyattended by many farmersfrom different areas of thedistrict.

Dr. Mudasar Ahmed,Deputy Director Regional-cum-Facilitation Centre,North II educated the farm-ers on the operational prac-tices of various medicinalplants suitable in Reasi dis-trict. He elaborated the scien-tific cultivation of manymedicinal plants such as

isbagol, harad, stevia, ashaw-ganda etc. He said that thereis great demand of medicinalplants across the globe andfarmers can become entre-preneurs in the medicinalplants cultivation.

Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head, KVK, Reasi said thatthere is an immense scope ofmedicinal plants in Reasi dis-trict and farmers can gener-ate more income and employ-ment by growing the medici-nal plants. They asked vari-ous quarries which the teamof scientists answered in asatisfactorily way. During theprogramme Dr. Suja NabiQureshi, Dr. Aijaz Ahmed,Dr. Rayees Ahmed Dar,Shahjad Ahmed, BharatBushan, awardee farmersTilak Raj, Gurdev Singh andothers were also present. Theprogramme was concluded byDr.Mudasar Ahmed with for-mal vote of thanks.

While addressing thegathering, Dr. Samoonsaid that the objective oforganizing this camp is to

aware the public about theroad safety measures andtraffic rules. Stressing onthe importance of Safetyon Roads, the PrincipalSecretary said that it isvery important for the peo-ple of all age groups toobey the traffic rules andregulations in order toreduce the number of roadaccidents.

He stressed on all theparticipants especially thedrivers to follow the safetyguidelines while driving.Dr. Samoon said the roleof a driver in the society isvery important for thesafety of precious lives aslives of passengers depend

upon them. He lauded theefforts of DistrictAdministration for organ-izing a series of awarenessprogrammes on 'Roadsafety' and for launchingdifferent initiativesregarding road safety andtraffic regulations in thedistrict. PrincipalSecretary appreciated theefforts of DDC Udhampurfor taking various initia-tives in traffic manage-ment and control of acci-dents.

DDC on the occasionhighlighted the importanceof road safety and askedthe participants to followthe traffic rules and regu-

lation. He said that thenegligence of driver is themajor cause of road acci-dents and we have lostmany precious lives due tothese. He stressed uponthe youth especially driv-ers and commuters to wearhelmet and seat belt whiledriving. He called upon thegeneral public to come for-ward and spread the mes-sage of obeying trafficrules.

Assistant RegionalTransport Officer,Udhampur, RachnaSharma gave a power pointpresentation and briefedabout the activities carriedout in the district by theDepartment for ensuringroad safety.

Earlier, a Bikers rallycomprising of 50 bikerswas taken out from Mandwhich was flagged off byPrincipal Secretary Dr.Asgar Hassan Samoon.Principal Secretary alsoflagged off five news busesfor different hungry routeson the occasion.

The objective of the campwas to make the massesaware about theschemes/programmes of theCorporation and to educatethe target groups to avail thewelfare schemes of the corpo-ration which are available forthem.

of the area to avail maximumbenefits of the self employ-ment/welfare schemes andset-up their income generat-ing units to reduce the vol-ume on unemployment.

DODA: District Doda isgoing to receive additional4 to 5 hour electricity sup-ply from day after tomor-row as the augmentationwork at Udhampur gridstation will get completedtomorrow which willreduce the present curtail-ment schedule in suffi-cient manner.

Authorities of concerneddepartment informed thatdistrict Doda receives itspower supply throughUdhampur grid station.There is upgradationwork going on and theexisting transformerwhich was 120MVA hasbeen upgraded up to160MVA and the processwill get completed tomor-row which was conductedby TLMD divisionUdhampur.

It was further informedthat the proposed shut-down on 132KV is onThursday from 10am-3pmand after that, districtDoda will receive addi-tional power supply.

12 bovines rescued,smuggler flees

STATE TIMES NEWSSAMBA: Police on Tuesdayfoiled a bovine smugglingbid by rescuing 12 bovineshowever smuggler man-aged to escape.

According to a report, aparty of police stationGhagwal intercepted atruck (JK02AH- 5977) onway from Kathua, duringthe search found it ladenwith 12 bovines which wererescued. The driver of thetruck managed to escapefrom the spot. Police hastaken cognizance in thematter and started investi-gation.
