Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time www.ccasta.org
“Receive, live, and share Christ” - from the CCASTA Mission Statement
Jesus’ invitation in the Gospel of Come to me, all you who labor and are
burdened, and I will give you rest is exactly what all of us are looking for. We all feel overwhelmed, stressed out and just not sure we can keep going at various times and Jesus is that safe refuge we are all looking for. This Gospel challenges us to depend on Jesus for everything. Most of us depend on the Lord when things are crazy and out of control but the rest of the time, we try to handle it all ourselves. This Gospel in-vites us to place everything in God’s hands, let him take on the burden when Jesus says My Yoke is easy and my burden light. While we think of a yoke as something nega-tive, being yoked or burdened down by something in agriculture it has a positive connotation. Animals were yoked together to share the burden to spread out the weight. Jesus will share the weight and burden with us. When we yoke ourselves to Jesus, he walks next to us sharing the load and carrying the stress and anxiety with us. We are all looking for better ways to handle stress, worry, and anxiety. When we attach ourselves to Jesus, we find the best stress relief of all that Jesus is in it with us.
Please remember that the Sunday, 5pm Mass has
been canceled for the rest of the summer.
It will resume after Labor Day.
Yoked to Jesus
-Fr. John
Welcome to the
Church,
Katie Horras!
Katie Horras was a practicing non-denominational
Protestant before she chose Catholicism for the next
step in her faith journey. She chose the Church be-
cause it will allow her to be an active participant in
both her own faith and in the religious upbringing of
her future children. “I grew up in a religious family,
and because of the values that were instilled in me
from a very young age, it has always been important
to me to take an active role in my church and reli-
gion. When my husband and I decided to raise a
Catholic family, I felt moved to join the Catholic faith.
Confirming my beliefs and joining the church will
allow me the opportunity to go further than just the
motions of a Sunday morning Mass.”
Thanks to her husband’s support
and to the Becoming Catholic
team, Katie received her
First Communion and
Confirmation on
June 20, 2020.

Dear CCASTA Parish Family, Each time during the past 10+ years that you brought food donations to St. Martin’s, we’ve been amazed by your kindness to our elderly Residents. But your large collection last Saturday really “took the cake!” Beside the abundant gifts of water, drinks and food, you also gave us monetary donations amounting to $1,800.00. "Thank you” could never express how grateful we are to you, especially at this time when we cannot go out for our regular collections in the churches and our needs are increased due to the pandemic. Be assured that Little Sisters and residents will remember you all in our daily prayers, and we ask you humbly to please pray for us. - Sr. Mary Lawrence, LSOP
Her favorite part of the classes? Learning about the Communion of Saints.
Katie is looking forward to many aspects of the Catholic Church. She’s most
excited about volunteering for and participating in programs at CCASTA.
Welcome to the Church, Katie!
