Will You Teach Me
How To Pray?
When you say a prayer to God it is not hard to do.
It is just like talking to
your best friend and telling them all you do.
You do not need a special place to pray to God above.
Just close your eyes and speak to him
and you will feel his love.
You can tell God when you are happy.
You can tell God when you are sad.
You can tell God when you are worried.
Or even when you are mad!!
God promises to love you forever.
His love will never end.
When others are being mean to you,
remember that God’s your friend!
So when you pray:
Thank God for your family. Thank God for your friends.
Thank God for your teachers. Your thanks should never end.
Can you think of other things
to thank God for?
And then the day arrives and off to school you go.
In school you will say different prayers.
Here are a few
for you to know.
The sign of the cross:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Join your hands together
as you say “Amen”.
Using your right hand, touch your forehead as you say “in the name of the Father;”
the middle of your chest as you say
“and of the Son”;
your left shoulder as you say
“and of the Holy”
and your right shoulder as you say the
word “Spirit.”
Jesus tells us that God is our Father.
So we pray:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy Kingdom come; thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Mary was the Mother of Jesus
and Jesus tells us that
she is our Mother too.
So we pray:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
When we pray the ‘Glory Be’ we are praying to God our Father,
to Jesus, his Son and to the Holy Spirit.
So we pray:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Morning Prayer
Good morning, Jesus, thank you for a lovely day.
May I always make you happy, in all I do and say.
Amen.
Prayer before you eat:
Dear Jesus, bless the food we are about to eat,
and bless all those people who helped to make it.
Amen.
Prayer after you have eaten:
Thank you God for the food we have eaten.
Thank you God for everything. Amen.
Evening prayer
Dear Jesus, thank you for today,
thank you for my work and thank you for my play.
God bless all my family, and all my friends too.
God bless all the people in the world
because we all love you! Amen.
So even though there are lots of prayers the easiest one to say:
Thank you God
you are my best friend I will talk to you every day!
