For A New Store Owner
A WebQuest for 3rd GradersBy: Autumn Meadows
Introduction:
As a third grader, you are now getting more into using money. Knowing how to count, add, and subtract money, is very important. When you go to the store and your mom gives you a certain amount of money, you want to know what all you can buy! Sometimes you can save your money and add it to have more money. What helps you learn to play with money more than a store? Not much. In this activity, we will be making our own stores!
Task:
Your assignment is to create your own mini store.
You will be working in teams to help better manage your store.
Each member of the group will have to take turn running your “register” while the others take turns buying from the store.
Before you create your store, you will first go through these activities to help you better understand how to count, add, and subtract money.
After the activities are completed you will be able to enjoy buying and selling on your own.
Process:
Meet with group to decide store name. Play the activities on the links provided. Decide the objects you want to sell and the prices. (Stay below $2.00) See your teacher for the plastic money you’ll be using. Set up your store like you would see it in real life. Trade off being the cashier in charge of the register. Visit your classmates’ stores!
