Location• Largely located in Western Asia • 97 percent is Asian Turkey• 3 percent is Europe Turkey• Territory is 1,600 KM long and 800 KM wide.• Turkey has rectangular shape • 37th largest country in terms of area
Geographical Importance• Turkey is in the middle of the four regions which
are: Balkans, Caucasus, middle East and Gulf• Has three seas around : Black Sea,
Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea• Located at meeting point of 3 continentes Asia,
Europe and Africa• Bridge between Western and Islamic world. • Focal point of energy distributing from Middle
East to Europe
Neighborhood Countries• Turkey is bordered by eight countries• Syria and Iraq to the south• Iran, Armenia, and the Azerbaijani to the east• Georgia to the northeast• Bulgaria to the northwest• Greece to the west

full membership• Turkey is strategic partner of US in Military and
economic actions• Turkey being the crossroads between West,
Asia and middle east has power in the region.
