• On many school days, you’re likely to find representativesfrom our utilities in middle schools conducting electric and

natural gas safety demonstrations. These demonstrationsare a longstanding tradition of educating today’s youthabout energy safety.

• For 20 years Integrys companies have participated inschool-business partnerships. Students learn about theworld of work while we learn about the promisingindividuals we will someday serve as our customers andemploy in our companies.

• Our employees are well-known for lending a hand to create parks and playgrounds for our youngest communitymembers. One example is an employee-built play system in Eagan, Minnesota, at the B. Robert Lewis House, a safeplace for women and children experiencing domesticviolence.

• Each fall employees from Peoples Gas, North Shore Gasand Wisconsin Public Service volunteer for Team H.E.A.T.

(Home Energy Assistance Together), our communityinitiative to weatherize homes for limited-income

customers. The customers have an easier time managing theirheating bills and are better prepared to enjoy a cozy winter.

• Employees from across all of our companies choose serviceover self by helping those in need during the holidays.

Instead of having traditional holiday parties, some employeescelebrate the season by adopting families to share a meal withand prepare gift baskets to make many homes brighter.

• Employees and retirees in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin,as well as many other areas, multiply the impact of their personalvolunteerism through our Dollars for Doers program. Whenthey volunteer 20 or more hours of their own time to aqualifying organization, our foundation makes a contribution to that organization.

• Our local offices proudly support local festivals, parades and

fairs. Through sponsorships, hands-on help or even our truckson parade, we share in these rituals that bring our communitymembers closer together.

• Each spring, Wisconsin Public Service electric generatingplants in Wausau and Green Bay become the birthplace ofendangered peregrine falcons. Our employees watch thenesting, egg laying, hatching and eventual departure of thefalcons like proud parents.

• Our Environmental Services group undertakes many effortsacross our service areas for control of invasive species, whichcan threaten the existence of native plants and animals. AtUpper Peninsula Power Company, employees control theovergrowth of an aggressive garlic mustard plant, which takesover areas in forests and crowds out other plants.

• Michigan Gas Utilities and Wisconsin Public Service help farmcustomers turn manure into valuable biofuel. We are happyto share our knowledge about anaerobic digestion, whichconverts manure into usable energy. In fact, in somesituations, we are able to buy excess energy from farmers who have a surplus.

• More than 40 high schools are in the Wisconsin Public ServiceSolarWise for Schools® program. These schools receive adonated photovoltaic system for their school, the energy thesystem generates, a solar curriculum for students and theopportunity to compete in an annual Solar Olympics event.

• Integrys Gas Group, on behalf of all of our natural gas utilities,reclaims used lubricants and glycol. Previously viewed aswaste products, these chemicals are captured after use, runthrough a chemical reclaiming unit and used again.

• Our electric generating facilities incorporate environmentalfeatures, including fish barriers, to prevent fish from enteringplant intake pipes; fly ash collection, to keep ash fromentering the environment and enable it to be reused for other purposes; and wastewater treatment, which removesunwanted chemicals from the plants’ discharge water. We’realso in the process of adding emissions-control equipment toour plants.

• At all of our companies, we offer electronic billing, payment

and service options, which eliminate paper use and addconvenience to our customers’ lives.

• In Illinois, we’ve adopted green technology by usingbiodiesel and hybrid vehicles. Our companies thereencourage energy conservation and protection of theenvironment, as demonstrated by the Smart Home, a“green home” Peoples Gas sponsors at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

• The next facility to be built in the Integrys family will be aWisconsin Public Service office in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. This Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

(LEED)-certified building will exemplify green construction.

• Integrys Energy Services partners with others across the nationto produce significant amounts of renewable energy, includinga 6.4-megawatt landfill-gas-to-electricity plant in Rockford,Illinois. The company has created a new business segmentfocusing on renewable energy, efficiency and conservation.
