In the discussion, The Globe asked GGA about the firm’s niche in defining compensation best practices. GGA, represented by a Managing Partner, characterized the firm as uniquely independent in perspective, with a commitment to fostering collaboration between shareholders and boards of directors in drawing up optimal compensation plans. He also underlined GGA's advocacy of “professionalizing its space” through Canada’s first-ever accredited executive compensation training curriculum. To date, more than 200 participants have graduated from GGA's in-depth two-and-a-half-day program.

GGA employs a holistic approach concerning executive compensation. While the consultancy focuses on executive pay at the highest levels, the same boards advised have oversight over middle-management as well as lower-level compensation. The best-practice approaches recommended by the firm, and the knowledge tools provided, exert a broad influence on overall corporate pay structures.
