English teaching

In all schools, a second language is taught :

Generally, since year 3 (ie 8 yo), but sometimes before, sometimes after…

- most of the time : English

- but sometimes German, Italian, Spanish or Provencal language

So… Kids can begin Spanish in grade 2, learn Italian in year 3, German in year 4, English in year 5 !

But level A1 in English or German is expected at the end of year 5.

Same principles for all methods :

lessons based on 4 phases

Phase 1 : warm-up (song, date, weather…)

Phase 2 : discovery of the new element of the day

(listen, understand, repeat)

Phase 3 : activation by groups (whole class, then pair works (dialogs)

Phase 4 : ending ritual (song, what have we learned today ?)
