Message from the Executive Chairman

“On behalf of the government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority, I would like to invite national and international tourism and hotel investors to invest in the Sabrang Tourism and Recreation Special Economic Zone .

BEZA’s vision is to establish one hundred EZ’s in the next fifteen years with an employment opportunity of 10 million people and to develop 30,000 hectares of land. The aim of BEZA is to establish EZ in all potential areas of the country (including backward/underdeveloped regions) to boost national economy through diversification of industry, attracting FDI, creation of employment, promotion of export and tourism.

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA)

Bangladesh Economic Zones Act 2010 was promulgated under which Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority was established, with broad objectives to : • Identify and select sites for Economic Zones for industrial activities• Acquire land for Economic Zones• To established SEZ which includes Tourism SEZ • Ensure off-site infrastructure development for the Economic Zones• Establish Economic Zones through Public-Private Partnership (PPP)• Provide One Stop Service

The Act provides for legislations for developing economic zones of the country and powers and functions of the authority.

BEZA is governed by a 3-level management structure.

Bangladesh Economic Zones Act 2010, has provisions for models of development of economic zones:

• Economic Zone with PPP• Private Economic Zones established through exclusive private initiative, with

approval from BEZA• Government Economic Zones established and managed by BEZA• Special Economic Zones, established privately or by PPP or exclusive government

initiative
